| Quadro Nuevo gründete sich 1996. An irgendeinem grauen Januartag jenes Jahres trafen sich vier junge Herren zum ersten Mal auf einem Parkplatz in der Nähe von Salzburg. Dies waren der Gitarrist Robert Wolf, welcher bis dato mit dem Flamenco-Star Paco de Lucia tourte, Saxofonist Mulo Francel, der durch die Jazzclubs tingelte und als Solist mit großen Orchestern arbeitete, D.D. Lowka bildete als Bassist die Basis diverser Latino-Combos und Andreas Hinterseher pflegte die volksnahe Akkordeon-Tradition des Pariser Valse Musette.Die Vier kannten sich vorher kaum und sollten Filmmusik für den ORF einspielen. Der Film wurde nie gesendet, aber an jenem Tage war klar:
Ein neues Quartett mit einem unverwechselbaren Sound war geboren. Ab jetzt sollte es nur noch eines geben - Quadro Nuevo - die Liebe zur nostalgisch-akustischen Musik und die gemeinsamen Reisen von Abend zu Abend, von Bühne zu Bühne. Ein Traum wurde wahr, der Überschwang des Glücks ist in jedem Ton zu hören.
Alle bisherigen CDs von Quadro Nuevo erhielten jeweils den Deutschen Jazz Award, kletterten in die Top Ten der Jazz- und Weltmusik-Charts und in die Top 50 der Album-Charts. Im Sommer 2005 veröffentlichte das Quartett seine DVD Quadro Nuevo LIVE und bekam in Paris den Europäischen Phono-Preis Impala verliehen. BAND-WEBSITE LABEL-WEBSITE CDs innerhalb D portofrei! Quadro Nuevo formed in 1996. Four young men met for the first time on some grey January day of that year on a car park near Salzburg. They were - the guitarist Robert Wolf, who until that time had been touring with the flamenco star Paco de Lucia - saxophonist Mulo Francel, who appeared in jazz clubs and worked with large orchestras – D.D. Lowka, as a bassist he had formed the basis for various latino combos – and Andreas Hinterseher who cultivated the folk accordion tradition of the Parisian valse musette. The four hardly knew each other previously and had been commissioned to produce film music for ORF [Austrian broadcasting and television station]. The film was never broadcast, but one thing was clear on that day: A new quartet with an unmistakable sound had been born. From then on only one thing mattered – Quadro Nuevo, the love of nostalgic-acoustic music and travelling together evening for evening, from stage to stage. A dream became true, the ardour of joy is to be heard in every note. Each of Quadro Nuevo’s CDs so far has received the German Jazz Award and climbed into the Top Ten of the Jazz and World Music Charts and the Top 50 album charts. In the summer of 2005, the quartet released its DVD - Quadro Nuevo LIVE - and received the European Phono Award Impala in Paris. |
