Welcome to the MySpace page for PhilippineScript Designs, www.philippinescript.com , an on-line store dedicated to the preservation of pre-Hispanic Philippine culture by featuring baybayin on wearable art, such as the pieces shown on our slideshow. Since learning about baybayin I have become passionate about sharing the knowledge of its beauty and significance. The result is PhilippineScript Designs. What is baybayin ? It is the ancient script of our Filipino ancestors, thought to be used as early as 900 AD. My painting, also in the photo gallery, reads "Pi Na A Ko" - Pinay Ako - I am a Filipina. The chart I've included also shows what sounds each symbol represents in baybayin script and will give you an idea of my writing style. I translate names and/or Tagalog words to baybayin and it is these symbols I burn by hand into Philippine wood beads and pendants, making all my pieces one-of-a-kind.
