Desde o início de sua trajetória, em 1985, a banda teve sempre uma ideologia anti-cristã, extremista e claramente satanista.A banda Sarcófago foi criada em 1985, em Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, e contava com a presença de Antichrist nos vocais, Incubus no baixo, Butcher na guitarra e D. D. Crazy na bateria. O vocalista Antichrist havia acabado de sair da banda Sepultura. Não existe um registro de gravação do Sepultura com o primeiro vocalista, mas a parceria está presente no álbum Bestial Devastation, na música "Antichrist".A banda teve seu debut com a coletânea Warfare Noise I (1986), juntamente com as bandas Mutilator, Chakal e Holocausto. Estreou já causando confusão, pois o vocalista Wagner Antichrist estava recém saído da banda Sepultura, alegando diferenças musicais e ideológicas.Não tiveram a mesma sorte do Sepultura, que estourou no mundo inteiro, mas fizeram carreira com vários álbuns, excursões pela Europa e América do Sul. Tiveram seus álbuns lançados na Europa pela Music For Nations, e é uma das bandas mais pirateadas hoje, em seu estilo, no mundo inteiro.----------------------------------------------------

From the beginning in 1985 until today, they have always had an extreme anti-Christ and pro-Satan ideology.The band was created in 1985, in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Antichrist, who had just left Sepultura, was the singer; Incubus played the bass, Butcher was the guitar player and D.D. Crazy played the drums. Although Sepultura never recorded anything with its first singer, their partnership is present in Sepultura's first album, Bestial Devastation: the song "Antichrist".Sarcófago's first two songs were included in the "Warfare Noise I" compilation (1986), along with Mutilator, Chakal and Holocausto. Because Wagner Antichrist left Sepultura due to ideological and musical divergences, his appearance with a new band and their debut in the "Warfare Noise I" Compilation caused a situation involving several gossips, bad tempers, mutual accusations, shouts and, of course, fights.They didn't become as huge as Sepultura. Even so they have released several albums by Cogumelo and toured South America and Europe. Their albums were released in Europe by Music for Nations. In the Black/Death Metal genre Sarcófago is, by far, the band who suffers the most with piracy.-----------------------------------------------------
