FRANCO PETROCCA Bass player / Ac.Guitar / Composer, Born Nov.11.1966 in Crotone / Calabria (Italy).He has 5 brothers and 3 of them are also musicians.Lorenzo playes guitar, Davide ac.bass and Antonio playes drums.In 1979 came to Stuttgart in Germany with his family.When he was 15 years-old he started to play the bass and guitar.Franco is an autodidatical musician and and play a six-string bass, fretless bass, and classical guitar. His work has been strongly influenced by well-known bass players and guitar player as Anthony Jackson, John Patitucci, Abraham Laboriel, Marcus Miller, Jaco Pastorius, Jeff Berlin, Nathan East, Will Lee, Jimmy Haslip, Pat Metheny, George Benson, Gilberto Gismonti, Joe Pass, Earl Klugh, Ralph Towner, and Weber Lopes. He considers himself as their student and thanks all these extraordinaryartists for the big inspiration they gave him.Virtuosity and tasteful improvisations are his trademarks. His music varies from Funk, Latin and Jazz up to Classic music.Meanwhile Franco isn't unknown anymore. FRANCO PETROCCA Bassist / Ac.Gitarre / Komponist. 11.11.1966 Crotone / Calabria (Italy). In 1979 kam Franco mit seiner Familie nach Stuttgart in Deutschland. Mit 15 Jahren begann er Gitarre zu spielen.Einige Monate später fing sein Bruder Lorenzo ebenfalls an Gitarre zu spielen und bald darauf gründeten sie eine Band.Da sie aber keinen Bassisten,sondern nur drei Gitarristen und einen Schlagzeuger hatten, mußte einer von ihnen den Bass übernehmen. Franco ließ sich von seinem Bruder dazu überreden.Ohne es richtig zu wollen, und ohne zu wissen wie ein Bass überhaubt funktioniert er zu spielen. Die Band interpretierte zuerst italienische Volksmusik und spelte zeitgenössischen Rock.Erst zwei Jahre später hörte Franco zum ersten mal Platten von Jazz-Bassisten.In dieser Zeit wandelte sich auch seine anfängliche Abneigung in Leidenschaft für dieses Instrument. Franco ist musikalischer Autodidakt und spielt 6 Saiter E Bass / Fretless und Ac.Gitarre.Seine Arbeit wurde stark von namhaften Bassisten und Gitarristen wie Abraham Laboriel, Marcus Miller, Jeff Berlin, Nathan East, John Patitucci, Anthony Jackson, Jaco Pastorius, Pat Metheny, Earl Klugh, Egberto Gismonti, Ralph Towner, Toninho Orta, George Benson, Joe Pass und Weber Lopes beeinflußt. Er betrachtet sich als deren Schüler und bedankt sich für die Inspiration die sie ihm gegeben haben.Virtuosität und geschmackvolle Improvisationen sind seine Markenzeichen. Seine Stilrichtung reicht von Funk,Latin und Jazz bis Klassik. Mittlerweile ist Franco kein Unbekannter mehr, und hat sich in ganz Deutschland und europaweit einen Namen gemacht,wo er zu den vielversprechendsten Virtuosen des 6-saitigenen Basses zählt. Band Members: FRANCO PETROCCA TRIO wurde 2004 gegründet. Die Musik der Trio besetzung besteht zum größten Teil aus eigenen Kompositionen, sowie auch einigen Standards oder Klassikern mit eigenem Arrangement und verschiedenen Latein-amerikanischen Rhytmen wie Salsa, Cha Cha, Mambo, Samba, Baiao und Bossa Nova. Franco verbindet diese Rhythmen mit Einflüssen aus dem Pop, Funk, Jazz-und Klassikbereich, und verarbeitet sie zu einem homogenen Ganzen. Das Repertoire des Trios ist bunt, vielfältig und mitreißend und die Mitglieder der Gruppe haben allesamt ihre Wurzeln in diesen Musikrichtungen. Das interessanteste bei der Gruppe ist die Mischung der verschiedenen Nationalitäten.
