About Me

A//Solution - Men or myths or whats that smell?

"I first heard A//Solution at a backyard party in ’88 in beautiful, spacious Wilmington, CA. I had heard about these insane grinders already, but man, as soon as these guys walked into the backyard, I was amazed at their crustiness and when they set up and played, I couldn’t believe how fucking powerful and heavy they were. At the time, punk wasn’t too heavy at all and these guys displayed a crushing style and easily blowed away everyone there. They did a few parties over here with bands like Reason to Believe, FUBAR, Confrontation, Disabled Children, OC Pestilence, and a lot more. At the timeI had heard a lot of the English bands that they were into like Heresy, Napalm Death, Concrete Sox, and Doom, but I didnt think too much about the messages that these bands were trying to get across in their lyrics. After talking to a lot of their friends, I saw how they felt about the current issues of the day and how they all really gave a shit about this world we live in, and it really made me more politically aware.

Shortly after obtaining their "Love" and "Butterfly" demos, I was sorry to hear that they’ve split up. This was in 1990, and over the next year and 1/2 I was kinda bummed that I’d probably never see them live again. In early ’92, I’d heard that they’ve redormed and that there was a possibility if putting out a full LP. In April ’92, they did their first gig since they reformed with Mindrot, Phobia, and Confrontation and man, it was good to see them jamming again. That summer of ’92 I’d see them play two more times at the Club Mesa in Costa Mesa and they ruled both times.

After they reformed they kind of dropped most of their older fast grindier stuff, but their new stuff was just as good. They did record that LP that they were supposed to do but after some kind of hassles, it was destined to be unreleased. Why it didnt work out a second time, I dont know, but it was definitely killer while it lasted. I’ve since heard that they were working in getting a new band together but Ive heard nothing since. Their LP/CD was supposed to be a split release with Relapse and Matt Fishers label, Tempest, but as time went on, I guess that it was forgotten and now that unreleased LP is now just kind of a demo or something. If you ever get a chance to hear it, Its some awesome stuff!. I’d like to end this article by saying that I dont know all the facts about these stenchy fellows but I feel that their music is still some of the most heaviest crust/grind to ever come from these parts..."
