| Athletes in Slacks has existed in one form or another since 2000. At first it was two guys with a drum machine and a "Wandering Genie" organ. They are now (thanks to some financially irresponsible purchases) the mighty electronic beasts you see before you. They even went so far as to create a new genre: electro-ghetto-lounge. After a sporadic public performance era, which included sweet shows at the Kitty Cat Klub, the Dinkytowner, VIP Lounge, Uptown Bar and a real stinker at Carleton College, The Athletes took a much needed break and began writing a new album. New? Try first. The tentative title is, "A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste Someone With". Other options are: "We Are Not Here to Make You Dance" and "Larry McCaghy's Happy Sunshine Jamboree". The Athletes have collaborated with Mumra/Nyteowl (see friends) in ultra-downtempo electro supergroup And I'll Form the Head and Josie Moon who has contributed vocals to several tracks on the album. Athletes in Slacks have been featured on 770 Radio K, including a live performance on Soulful Science, KFAI's 'The Groove Garden' and 89.3 The Current (Minnesota Public Radio).
