BIO (ENGLISH) "Streben" is the denomination for a philosophic and literary ethic of German Romanticism and it means the anxiety derivated from the attempts of breaking reality's bonds. This word perfectly reflects the musical proposal of this band (a mix of folk melodies and experimental black metal with a dreamful and epic feeling), but at the same time is attinent to the general concept behind the project: escaping a dull reality to regain individuality in a more personal dimension. Hagalaz involved Valker (also in Cold Empire) within the project during the first days of October, 2007; a few weeks later, the duo recruited Cold Empire’s drummer Dark Shadow as a guest musician. In may 2008, Streben released the first demo, entitled "...of Melancholic Elegies and Wanderlust". BIO (ITALIANO) "Streben" è la denominazione di un'etica filosofico - letteraria propria del Romanticismo Tedesco, e sta a significare l'ansia derivante dai tentativi di liberarsi dai vincoli della realtà . Questo vocabolo rispecchia appieno la proposta musicale di questa band (un black metal sperimentale contaminato da marcate influenze folk, dai connotati epici e sognanti), ma allo stesso tempo è affine al concetto generale che muove il progetto: sfuggire ad una realtà spersonalizzante per riappropriarsi della propria individualità in una dimensione più gratificante. Hagalaz ha coinvolto Valker (Cold Empire) nel progetto nei primi giorni dell’Ottobre 2007; poche settimane dopo, il duo ha reclutato il batterista Dark Shadow (già Cold Empire anch'egli) in qualità di guest. Nel maggio del 2008 il gruppo rilascia il primo demo, intitolato "... of Melancholic Elegies and Wanderlust".
