About Me |
|
| I grew up in Germany to the music of the Byrds, Dyland, The
Weavers, Peter, Paul
& Mary, Big Bill Bronzy, Paxton and Guthry but also Classical, Cletic, Irish,
Flamenco as well as Brazilian music. My father being the one getting me on the hook of
the guitar at 5. Played in a few bands as a teen and started solo in Muenchen ( Munich, Germany)
in '75-78 followed by 2 years of travels and basking off and on in Paris, NY
and San Francisco. Stopped actively playing when I returned to Muenchen in '79 to pursued a
professional career in exhibit building that took me eventually back to the US
and Canada in '84. I kept playing guitar alive after my son was born the same way my dad did, in the evening to put him to sleep when I had time! 6 years ago supporting my son's Montessori school in Cambria CA I
started playing again in public for a benefit fund raiser. Spurred on by many
request for a CD and a good push 2 years ago by my loving new wife Desiree I
finally made a CD with the help of my ex neighbor & friend Jill Knight. This is still a mix
of old and new tunes recorded in a mere 3 days. Finally having some more time on my hands I am able to focus more on new songs that evolve right now and I hope that some of the new material that I consider well above the level of the first try will be available soon.
Most of my music is influenced by strong visual impacts and the pain of relation ships gone south.
A big hug to all of you that enjoy it!
Cheers! Sven |

Music:Member Since: 2/5/2008Band Website: myspace.com/svengrosse Influences: Most influential guitar players, Leo Kottke, Lowel George, JJ Cale, Ry Cooder, Paco De Lucia, Roger Mc Guinn, James Taylor and David Lindley. Most admired players, Albert Lee, Paco De Lucia, John Faey, John Renburn, Bert Jansh & Eric Clapton. Most memorable moments: meeting Paco and Ramon his brother in a small restaurant after a concert and hear him play live close up, was very humbling. Hearing the Byrds live. Meeting Albert Lee at the NAMM show in '05&'06 what a humble great man! He is still the most unrecognized guitar player in the world and I only hope that one day he gets the recognition that he so very much deserves! Sure insiders of the industry all know him, but outside that circle he still remains largely unknown. Sounds Like: Leo Kottke is what I feel closest too from the guitar sound, but then I apprechiate you telling me where you feel you see me Record Label: unsigned Type of Label: None |
