| Bogdo Ula musicians are guitarist Samuli Kristian and drummer Ivan Horder. Bogdo Ula combines free improvisation with energetic rock. The style reaches from hard rock to free jazz. The musical idea may grow from a simple melody line to a furious improvisation. For instance John Coltrane would give his band only two notes as the basis of a new tune. This idea has inspired Bogdo Ula to make music from a minimalistic starting point. Frank Zappa's idea of instant compositions on his album Shut up 'n' play yer guitar has also encouraged Bogdo Ula to go this way. Bobgo Ula is trying to achieve something fresh and instantaneous. The goal is just to go with the flow of music, to achieve a total freedom of expression.Hours of recordings exist of Bogdo Ula improvisations. Some takes were chosen and edited, bass and synths were added with the computer. Other takes are left as they are, without overdubs or added bass.Bogdo Ula has walked this way and it is moving on.
