| Multi-instrumentalist and programmer Tam Saunders (Solar Quest & Squelch) and singer / lyricist Xan Tyler (Technique, Mission Control, Orinoko) draw upon a mutual fondness of pop, ska and techno to deliver The Joys of Sound. Pop, Ska and electronica are stylishly woven with solid dub bass beats and catchy melodies. Xan Tyler's distinctive vocals are sweet yet nonchalant, as are her lyrics. The horns lines (provided by brass section to The Fratellis) are infectious and give tunes like Solid Gold a timeless feel, reminiscent of a sticky floored basement club in the early days of Trojan records. The Joys of Sound are currently writing and recording their first album and will be touring soon. |
