About Me |
|
| As a guitarist, I’ve been playing for 22 years, most notably in big band swing, fusion, and all-out Jazz for 18 years.
Along the way, I forced myself to undergo extensive academic experience in the areas of music composition/theory, and classical performance. I didn’t dig the classical scene too much after some time, so I headed off into Jazzland (again). To me, Jazz is an extremely personal art form - I have and continue to work on my form by use of the guitar. I tackle it every day, even though there are days when "Allison" (my guitar) doesn’t necessarily want to cooperate! To feed myself, I spent ten years being a studio cat in the greater Los Angeles area, guesting on several Jazz albums, and several big band swing tours. In a nutshell, that about sums it up! I am currently recording a album in the trio format, due to be out by the end of summer. Currently, the itinerary consists of a few Jazz standards, rock tunes "Jazzified", and a few tunes that you may have heard before, but can’t figure out why some weird guitarist is playing them in such an intriguing kind of way! If you dig (somewhat) experimental Jazz, I am arranging tunes for a project that is considering an album release in January 2009. I will supplying the guitar playing when we hit the studio for this project as well. Also, I am currently working in a project with a group of seasoned musicians in the Fort Worth, TX area, by the name of the Easy Street Band - this project is listed in my Top Friends. (The recordings on that profile don’t include my playing, but it’s meant to demonstrate the musical direction.) While the music is more Rock/Pop oriented, it makes for an interesting sound when all of the influences are combined. We’re in the studio laying down tracks for thirteen tunes, with the hopes of releasing the album closer to summer’s end! Be sure to check back - I’ll post info on how the recording processes are going for all of my projects! |

My Interests |
|
Music:Member Since: 2/29/2008Band Members: This usually consists of me, as a rule. However, as a "solo" artist, I normally play in a trio format (every member contributes greatly to the overall sound that way), with an ever changing line-up (to keep things lively and interesting) or on rare occasions, just me, on solo guitar. Influences: Jimmy Bruno, Chopin, George Benson, Joe Pass, Al DiMeola, Tal Farlow, Danny Gatton, George Van Eps, and many many more. Not limited to Jazz so much, as I find that my own compositions are definitely hard to nail down to a genre, and are possibly defined as fusion. Sounds Like: If you’re a big fan of Kenny G, George Benson (later period), Fourplay, Sade, The Rippingtons, or even Britney, or Christina, or Avril...well, you’re probably not going to dig me at all! Tripped out conventional Bop/Cool Jazz, with a few stylistic twists. Or...Tal Farlow, Joe Pass, Danny Gatton, John Coltrane, and Les Paul jammed somewhere into a dark alley on a seriously strange, yet coherent pharmaceutical binge. Type of Label: Indie |
