| Music has always been an important part of my life. As a small child I remember making up my own songs and singing them into my little tape recorder. They were roughly influenced by Simon and Garfunkel, John Denver, Peter,Paul and Mary, and Phil Collins (because when you're 3, you listen to the music you're parents like.) I grew up taking voice, piano, and clarinet lessons and taught myself some guitar. Through high school, I did a lot of public singing- mostly with my older sister- and some on my own in my home church. I tried to continue with my music in college by joining a choir and continuing voice & guitar lessons, but because of a tragic loss 2 months after high school graduation, the music died in me. I still performed at small events- mostly weddings and funerals, but it wasn't the same and I eventually stopped. It's been many years, but I've found my love of music again. It was always a dream of mine to perform my own music so I'm finally working on it. I choose the name "Genesis Adria" because it roughly means "a new beginning from the dark, murky depths" and it seems very appropriate for my life right now. I know the vocals aren't up yet- I'm saving my favorite part for last. My voice is typically compared to Tori Amos (I'm not sure why because I've never listened to an entire song of hers, but whatever), but sometimes I'm also told: Jewel, Sarah McLaughlin, Fiona Apple, etc. If you like the music, join my page and leave me a comment on it.
