It’s 2008 and, to our dismay, racism still exists in the world. Somewhere in the world, right now, a child is crying herself to sleep or a family is mourning the loss of a son to racism. It has to stop.

In so many ways, we have advanced as a people. The walls of communism have crumbled, travel has become affordable and trade has gone global. Today we take it for granted that we could be wearing clothes manufactured in Vietnam, working on computers made in Singapore, snacking on foods from Japan and conversing on mobile phones made in Finland.

We think nothing of a friend who has just spent two weeks on holiday in Laos or the Ivory Coast. However, of all of the advances the world has made, by far, the most important is the access, that most of us have, to information without having to leave the comfort of our homes. With the flick of a switch, a person in China can tele-conference, in real time, with a friend in South Africa. We watch French television in India, study the traditions of an African tribe without stepping foot in Africa.

For most of us, the global village that the world has become has enriched our lives beyond our wildest dreams. But some of us on this planet refuse to accept that our similarities, far outweigh our differences.

No one is born a racist, it is a human condition that is learned.

A result of ignorance and, most times, transferred down from generation to generation. The only way to eradicate racism is to reach out to future generations, before they have been irreparably programmed.

Today, the generation of greatest importance to the ERACE project is Generation I, which is defined as the generation that has grown up, not knowing life without technology and the world wide web. Anyone one wishing to reach out and make an impact within this demographic is going to need to use all of the media and tools that have become common place in the lives of Generation I.

The ERACE project has been founded to do just that. Our goal is to provide our most valued generation with a website in which they can learn, obtain support, share and connect.

The ERACE Project will be a living breathing entity, that will perpetually evolve. Please join us in our quest to force racism onto the pages of our history books. Please help us spread the word that we are all cut from the same cloth.
