| Hey Young Believer is a four-piece from SF. We will play anywhere. All the songs come with lyrics. What a fun band!
Hey Young Believer got started when Lilly and Alex met at Stanford in spring of 2006. Nick joined that winter, and Richard a year or so after that. We used to play lots of songs in the genre of "City Lights" and went by the name "The Landing." Last spring we recorded a melancholy, piano-driven EP that was met with critical acclaim and polite clapping from fans in cafes throughout the Bay Area. Around January of this year, Richard joined and then lightning struck. The new songs started coming out faster, poppier, and still just as pretty as before. Even the old tunes picked up some more life. So we renamed ourselves to "Hey Young Believer" because it’s more upbeat, sounds cool, and matches our preachy attitutude. j/k on the last one! We don’t preach anything. But Lilly and Alex spend some time on meaningful lyrics, so go ahead and read them. We’ve only done a rough room recording of three of our new tunes, but you get the idea. Our style varies from pop to punk, but it’s definitely not pop-punk. We’re talented musicians, Lilly’s voice ranges from sexy to cute, and the total package will make your day. The music will always be free, as long as you promise to come to a show or buy some merch (coming soon!) to offset the price. We’re currently booking shows in the Bay Area - we really will play anywhere, so ask us about playing your party. And please write! Richard Moya Richard previously played in number of SF punk bands including High Fly and Drunken Hu. He enjoys hosting dinner parties.
