| The initial for Operation Operation goes back to spring-time 2007. Peter, guitarist by fate and blessed with a voice like gold, had a fistful of songs on his old tape-recorder. And while Micha was fed up playing with local stoner-rocker-bands, Zepè successfully accomplished the task of quitting another position as drummer for another hardcore-combo. Since all three knew each other from earlier days, suddenly nothing was more obvious, than coming together for some jam-sessions in a friend’s studio. Quite quickly it turned out to be clear: Here are three guys, bound to continue the never ending story of rock at its best.As a classical three-piece, Operation Operation place the emphasis on spirit and purism, on melodies and smart song-writing, as well as on punch, swing and on a solid groove. Uptight indie-attitudes? Testosterone enriched guitar handling? Super-serious pseudo-understatement? Clowning about? No way with these guys. Studded belts, side-parted hair, horn-rimmed classes and a PhD in art history? They don’t care. Operation Operation is not a project, it is a band. Their songs are not meant to be understood, but one should feel them.Their first demo ep was recorded in December 2007 in Berlin and combines backyard laissez-faire with determined songwriting, big melodies with the naive pleasure of simply playing music. Some already claim to see Operation Operation in a line with The Lemonheads, Soundgarden and Kings of Leon – yeah well. | |
