| Beginning as a solo act and turning into one of Chicago up and coming rock acts, Raised On Zenith is finding its niche in the local music scene.The background of the band begins with the front man Zhenia Koval relocating to the United States from the Ukraine. He started off as solo act Zhenia, but quickly found other talented artists in Chicago that shared the same musical vision he did, and Raised On Zenith was well under way.The sound? It can easily be described a musical phenomenon that is a beautifully strange amalgamation of Eastern European punk rock, American "alternative", and British Manchester-Pop, influenced by the finest qualities had by the Russian group, Kino, Seattle's Nirvana, and David Bowie.Formed in 2001, the quartet has quickly risen to local recognition. From winning the Q101 Best Draw Contest at Cubby Bear Chicago to being broadcast on a variety of Chicagoland radio stations to having their first music video featured in the Midwest Independent Film Festival, Raised On Zenith have certainly made their mark on Chicago in a short amount of time.Raised on Zenith recently released their Windy City Records debut, Not Always So, which is now available at a number of record stores all over Chicago, including: itunes, CD-Baby, Target on-line etc. The record is already selling quickly, and its safe to say that Raised on Zenith will continue to exceed all expectations put in front of them.
