| Unmasked by special effects or the banging of drums, Joseph Wells is a refreshingly raw and spirited singer/songwriter. His willingness to leave himself musically and lyrically vulnerable has endeared Wells to audiences throughout the Southeast.
A former staple among rock n' roll bands in the Raleigh, North Carolina area, Wells went solo in 2006. He quickly found his niche in the blossoming Raleigh music scene as an atypical acoustic musician. His energetic and upbeat performances differed from those of most contemporary acoustic artists.
By combining traditional styles with a modern rock/pop touch, Wells delivers a sound and a message that all audiences can understand and relate to. He strives to keep the energy flowing and the audience involved, and has thus far succeeded in doing that.
Wells has developed a unique style by playing lead guitar riffs and solos over bass notes. His modern sound has turned the heads of many lovers of traditional acoustic musicians such as James Taylor and Cat Stevens.
Seeing himself more as a songwriter than a performer, Wells strives to create music and lyrics that stand on their own. However, while some acoustic musicians sacrifice energy for the song, Wells offers a powerful, yet inviting, live performance.
Wells' music has been described as uplifting and electrifying. His songs and live performances entertain and appeal to audiences of all ages. This is intentional, as Wells states it as his goal to "make sure everyone has a good time. I want to make each show fun and enjoyable, a memorable experience."
