In the begging there were only progressive and techno and then the humanity appeared...)) Yura began his career in the beginning of 1998 in his native city Rostov-on-Don.It's all began occasionally due to the simple music composing software. It was his first attempts to produce his own tracks and nobody knows when he will become professional in this field.A year later his first tracks were included in local compilations.His project was named Impulse and it was very commercial, but he was 18 and he found it's funny.There were two people in project, they were producing music together, drink and smoke together. It was a good time when you think that all door are open for you and just enjoying the life. There was a time when 2 tracks speed garage was played everywhere.Then after a years of constant gigs their music transformed into break beat with hip hop lyrics.It was easy to make and play tracks in such a way, but it was leading to degradation, and became uninteresting, as a work. So, brake-up of the project was inevitable because everybody of us had different views on making music, but then we didn’t understand what the problem was. As a musician I didn’t agree with the tracks which were made primitively, I just wanted to write something new and interesting, following the club format.In 2003 the project was broken up finally and for a long time I couldn’t focus on working. I tried to make some tracks with own vocal, but then I decided that it was quiet not what I want. I found that I didn’t want to pay attention on voice parts, because I was interested only in music. I would like to use new synthesizers, plug-ins, effects, and at last I intended to make progressive and techno music.In a couple of years, in 2005 I had been on one of the local festivals on the Black sea cost where I found that electronic music was what I want to be engaged.I had felt the club atmosphere and the spirit of electronic music made me crazy. I began to pay significant attention to this. I tried to experiment with alive and electronic sound. I cooperated with vocalists, guitarists, even drummers, but eventually I understood that I need nobody except my computer.In 2007 we created the project «Viza». It was consist of me and my girlfriend Lera. She was engaged in a vocal and we inserted her voice parts in our tracks. But the project was commercial again and I wasn’t satisfied with it. I found that I want to make a solo career!So, in 2008 I had signed a part of tracks with the name of Yura Popov. I began to pay a lot of attention to making tracks instead of records of voice parts, or to search of vocalists. I had made reassessment of the personal values and have found harmony with myself.By the end of 2008 some singles and remixes will be done under my name. In the future I’m going to make a solo jet-sets and alive performances. The Process of writing songs helps me to show some convenient programs. The basic sequencer is abelton, by the way I have started to use it in recent time, before I used cubase. It helped me to reveal my personality as a musician.I discovered new things using abelton, what I had never done with cubase. All my solo tracks were written in this program. It is very convenient for me, it gives me all I want. And I can make all easier, better and fastly. Also I use VST synthesizers Crono X, Plasticz, Pro 53, Albino, Minimoog, dramas machine Battery, a package of plug-ins from Wave and some similar simple adaptations... In the future I’m going to get a new instruments.Now I spend a lot of time in the studio and write new tracks. Also in our native city we organize the closed parties in small cosy clubs. These parties are for only a few amount of people, approximately it is 200-300 persons, but there we feel easy and do only what we really love. Good luck to you! about label : Also Yura is the co-owner of Carica Records, Lotto Music and Lotos Recordings and A&R manager of Lotto Red sublabel and together with Python he is A&R manager of Carica Records. The label is 2 years old, it has more than 30 releases and more than 80 artists and remixers. Nowadays the labels are looking for new unsigned material from young and well known producers and building it’s own booking agency based on their artists. The main aim of the labels now is to expand style borders, releasing already progressive house, tech house, progressive trance, techno, minimal and ambient. All label group is open for new cooperations and artists. Carica Music Group has already some radioshows for promotion it’s own production and production of friendly labels (tilth music, toes in the sand .. headrush, bellarine, pure substance, swordtail, lups, polytechnics, segment, composure, neuroscience just to name a few). The radioshows are at such radios as Proton, Di.fm (digitally imported), Frisky, Etn.fm, Pure.fm, Ensonic.fm, Stream fm, Tribal Mixes, ProClubbinFm, Pulse Radio and DanceRadio.GR. Later on he started to carry out duties ofthe program director and follow the radio grid. Thiswas the youth channel and many local DJs came therewith their guest mixes. That was the bloom of DeepDish. At the same time Yura got to know Sasha, JohnDigweed, Kazel, Gabriel & Dresden, Silicone Soul, TimoMaas, Nick Warren, Sreve Lawner and many others. The real name: Yura Popov. Age: 25. Yura has two high liberal educations. In his childhoodhe went to musical school on a piano class. As musicianand Dj Yura began his career in 2003. After hisvisiting of one of the local parties, he could not beindifferent to Progressive music any more. At once hestarted to play in the local clubs on small parties, hegot vinyl players and started to order vinylrecordings. Love for Techno came little bit later,after a couple of years. His friends constantly broghtto him new music and mixes which he listened withinterest. This is how he got to know Richie Hawtin,Ricardo Villalobos, Pocker Flat Magda, Sasha, Fabric,Ricky Montanari, D-formation, Thomas Schumacher; suchlabels as Pocker Flat, Cadenza, Fabric, Minus, GetPhysical, Turbo and many others. Yura sold his vinyl players long time ago and now heworks in Ableton. “I make music in it, play in it, I doall the possible in it...if there was a musicalredactor I wouldn’t leave itat all))” , he says, “Idon’t know...probably I’ll give all my old vinylrecordings to my favourite local club “Cuba Libre” forthe interior decoration. Vinyl is good, of course, it’sclassic, but there’s no opportunity to take thefreshest material, edit it, and besides i play a lot ofmy own tracks which i constantly alter and finish...that’s why Ableton for me is an ideal now. In my work iorient myself on such musicians and Djs asSasha_&_Digweed, Sven Vath, Robert Babicz, RichieHawtin, Ricardo Villalobos, M.A.N.D.Y., Karotte, JamesHolden, Hernan Cattaneo,Guy-Gerber, Funk D Void,D-formation, Carl Craig etc.” At present time Yura Popov and Yura Kolomiytsev (PythonProject) are engaged in their own label Carica Records,which nowadays has many sub-labels and styles. Nowthey’re opening new label Lotto, in which itssub-labels are initially thought over by colours forconvenience of style choice.
