| Weaned on Glum rock, Taj emerged from the hole in his platform shoe to help form the pink band XL5 & 3/4 with Nakitt Vine in 1978. Confronting the twin threats of global snoring and the brutality of the fashion police, the band tried to change the world but ultimately couldn't change their socks and broke up in disarray or Monterey or somewhere like that. In the 80’s Taj pursued a successful solo career but wasn’t quite fast enough to catch it. As the 90’s yawned the excesses of sick drunks and rancid rolls left him disillusioned with the music scene and he concentrated on his art, painting his nails at first, then by numbers and eventually the back door. Always a bit of a cult, figure, in 2004/2005 the burgeoning hardcore ambient scene in Botswana took Taj Limahl to it’s heart which led to the release in 2006 of ‘Can Lulu Can Can in a Tutu Tin Tin?’, his first album in 18 ears. Pending a successful parole hearing, a new album will be released shortly to be followed by an extensive tour of America’s vineyards. A tour of Eastern Europe is also scheduled for next year with dates in Megalomania and Kleptomania. | |
