About Me |
|
| I have blogged Me. Check there to learn a little 'bout who I am. Real quick: I'm Norte Americano, through and through. 6'1", 165 lbs. Dark hair and eyes. A daddy (yeah, I make children). I believe in people being able to make their own decisions. Eccentric. Loner. Bonafide music snob. Used to think I could sing and write songs. Still like to think I thought that. |

My Interests |
|
| My daughter. Women who drink TaB. Family. Writing. Fair Tax. Liberty. Individualism. Anti-statism. Dr. Ron Paul being our next President in 2008. Dissing the pompous self-absorbed and spirit-crushing do-good liberalism of the social fascist Left and the self-righteous and simplistic single-minded moralizing of the saber-rattling religious Right. Taunting hippies. Deriding and scorning pretentious intellectualism and all its subscribers. Southern U.S. cities and towns--especially and above all The 804/Cap City/Cig-mond/Fist City/RVA. U.S. history. Black and white. Leaves in fall. Fish and fishing. Reading. Walking. Talking. Drawing. Art, architecture, design. Cooking. Eating. Drinking. Friends. Thrift stores. Flea markets. Music. Indian (American, "native") culture and history. Wild plants. The supernatural. Tiki Lounges. Reveling in the past. Reveling in the present. Dreaming of (someone else’s? Mine? Your?) future glory. Nuff said. | |
I'd like to meet:THAT VOICE! Incredible Presence. TRULY A GENIUS TALENT, PEOPLE; Re Spekt. IT'S JUST SO OBVIOUS |

Music:...I do love the 80s. I was there. Punk Rock. Ok, for me, D.C., winter 1983/84 right through the end of the decade was the best time and place for music. I saw 9353 several times. Tones on Tail, at 9:30 Club, October 1984. Alien Sex Fiend, Executive Slacks, SWANS, Pixies (as an opening act, mind you), LOOP, My Bloody Valentine, and a host of others, 1987, 1988, 1989.... Then again, I was there, too, for some of the Richmond, Virginia (Hoodoo Town, USA), scene circa late 1989 though the summer of 1994: The Alter Natives, Aurora Paralysis, Awareness Art Ensemble, Bio Ritmo, Brainflwr, Breadwinner, Butterglove, Cashmere Jungle Lords, Chrome Daddy Disco, Detune, Dirtball, Eggs, Fudge, Gutterball, The Hard Ride, Hotel X, Kepone, Labradford, Ladyfinger, Malacoda, Stackhouse, and the mighty Sliang Laos. I am currently listening to Crime, Deerhunter, The Hair and Skin Trading Company, Dead Meadow, Sparks, Japan, Woven Hand, Jennifer Gentle, Dirty on Purpose, Panda Bear, Two Lone Swordsmen, Richard Hawley, the gleaming Mick Harvey, and the august Mr. Scott Walker. Also, Death in June never, ever gets old. |
|
Movies:I like old movies; they didn't try to shove products and soundtracks down your throat. Some new movies are OK, and I like to laugh. Dumb comedies are fine with me--if they are "smart" dumb. But, generally, classic American; Film Noir; spaghetti westerns......slapstick comedies; spy/spy spoof; mystery; kids' movies (Shrek, Ice Age, Monsters, Inc., etc). |
|
Television:Mostly sucks. WTF has happened to TV? I will NOT watch any shows about doctors, lawyers, or priviledged Hollywood brats. Period. Virtually all modern sitcoms (1985-present, with, like, three exceptions) should be renamed 'shitcoms'. No karaoke programs, or shows with "idol" or "star" or "CSI" in the titles. "Reality"? That's on the streets, not on TV. So, what will I tolerate? I like black and white shows, mainly. Also old (preferably unedited and non-PC-ized) cartoons. Spongebob. Speed Racer. Duck Dodgers. Deputy Dawg. Quickdraw McGraw. The Pink Panther. Scooby Doo, Where Are You? Underdog. Psuedo-science. Ancient America. Rome. Mafia. Nazis. Ghosts. Bigfoot. Earth/nature/wildlife. The original Star Trek. Batman. The Andy Griffith Show. The Addams Family. I Love Lucy. Leave it to Beaver. The Dick Van Dyke Show. The Brady Bunch. Sanford & Son. My Three Sons. The Waltons. Green Acres. The Beverly Hillbillies. Mr. Ed. Gunsmoke. Bewitched. The Benny Hill Show. The Carol Burnett Show. The (original) Twilight Zone. The Outer Limits. Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Dark Shadows. Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Lost in Space. Mission Impossible. 77 Sunset Strip. The Untouchables. Adam Adamant. Man From UNCLE. The Fugitive. The Prisoner. The Avengers (with Diana Rigg as Mrs. Emma Peel). The Saint. Eastenders. Doctor Who (with John Pertwee and Tom Baker as the Time Lord). And South Park, absolutely the only meaningful, semi-intelligent animated comedy satire program of the entire last decade. All else blows. Yes, even that show with Homer and Bart. C'mon, that came out back in like, what, 1989? After seven, eight seasons, you know, it was played out, the inevitible decline set in, it got boring, and its never recovered. The 'Pink Floyd' of television. |
|
Books:Whatever my daughter likes these days. And: ...Faulkner, O'Connor, Welty...ME; my stuff is good. |
|
Heroes:OK, who else? The early electric Bob Dylan. Man! That guy was awesome! In THAT period. My Grandaddy Arkie Bom. Yes, I love to hear people whine today. Try raising a dozen freakin' kids on a brakeman's salary, during the Depression, in a small hillbilly-frontier-type town, as a 1/2 Breed Indian man married to a white woman...THAT's hard, people. Please, don't bitch to me about "immigrant rights" while wearing your Che t-shirt and sipping your damn Starbucks! Posuer. Go away! |

on the left like the sound
of the color of the night

| These are poems or words to songs I wrote long ago....between 1987 and 1993.

So long
Its been too long
Wired for the go
See you when I get there
Its close
To being too slow
