Nacido en Manhattan en 1966. Estudia Piano desde los 5 años. A los 9 años, empieza a estudiar el saxofón. Obtiene el Bachelor of Music Degree (Saxofón clasico) de Eastman School of Music (University of Rochester) en 1988. Obtiene el Master of Music Degree (Musica de Jazz y Comercial) de Manhattan School of Music en 1991 con honores. en 1987 y 1988, recibe El Premio Honorable Mention de la revista DownBeat. Profesores principales: Ramon Ricker, Bob Mintzer, Bill Dobbins, Ray Wright, Al Regni y George Coleman. En 1992 se traslada a Madrid, donde vive actualmente. Ha participado en giras internacionales con las orquestas de Lionel Hampton y The Glenn Miller Orchestra. A nivel internacional, ha tenido la oportunidad de tocar junto a : Lionel Hampton, Dizzy Gillespie, Paquito D’Rivera, Gerry Mulligan, Mel Lewis, Gary Smulyan, Clark Terry, Mark Murphy, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Ron McClure, George Mraz, Kurt Weiss and J.J. Johnson, entre otros. Desde que se trasladó a España a actuado con Perico Sambeat, Jorge Pardo, Chano Domínguez, Pedro Iturralde, Albert Bover, Iñaki Salvador,Horacio Icasto, Javier Colina, Mario Rossy, Jorge Rossy, Bernardo Sasseti, Guillermo McGuill, Chris Kase, Mikel Andueza y Yayo Morales entre otros. En 1998, graba su primer disco como lider en España para el sello Fresh Sound New Talent, en el que también participan Albert Bover, Carlos Barretto, Philipe Soiratt, Perico Sambeat y Kurt Weiss. Actualmente, trabaja como lider de varios projectos, Musico “freelance” y profesor de armonía de jazz y director de Big Band en Musikene en San Sebastian. Sus projectos de momento incluyen su trio, cuarteto y The Bob Sands Big Band, que dirige cuando sus obligaciones como músico de grabaciones y solista lo permiten. Músico habitual en grabaciones y giras de artistas pop nacionales: Joaquin Sabina, Miquel Ríos, Marta Sanchez, Lolita, Martirio, Victor Manuel, Ana Belén, Joan Manuel Serrat entre muchos otros. Born in Manhattan in 1966, Studies Piano from age 5, at 9 begins to study Saxophone. Obtains Bachelor of Music Degree (Applied Saxophone) from the Eastman School of Music (University of Rochester) in 1988. Obtains Master of Music Degree (Jazz and Commercial Music) from The Manhattan School of Music in 1991 with honors. In 1987 and 1988, he receives The Honorable Mention Prize from the magazine Down Beat. Principal teachers: Ramon Ricker, Bob Mintzer, Bill Dobbins, Ray Wright, Al Regni y George Coleman. In 1992 he emigrates to Spain, where he currently lives. He has participated in international tours with many groups, including: Lionel Hampton Big Band and The Glenn Miller Orchestra. He has performed with: Lionel Hampton, Dizzy Gillespie, Paquito D’Rivera, Gerry Mulligan, Mel Lewis, Garry Smullyan, Clark Terry, Mark Murphy, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Ron McClure, George Mraz, Kurt Weiss and J.J. Johnson, among many others. Since his relocation in Europe, he has played with Perico Sambeat, Jorge Pardo, Chano Domínguez, Pedro Iturralde, Albert Bover, Iñaki Salvador,Horacio Icasto, Javier Colina, Mario Rossy, Jorge Rossy, Bernardo Sasseti, Guillermo McGuill, Chris Kase, Mikel Andueza and Yayo Morales. In 1998, He releases his first record as a leader, for Fresh Sound Records, with the participation of Albert Bover, Carlos Barretto, Philipe Soiratt, Perico Sambeat y Kurt Weiss. Currently, he works as a bandleader, freelance musician and professor of jazz harmony and Big Band conductor at Musikene in San Sebastian. His current projects include his quartet, trio and The Bob Sands Big Band, which he directs when his busy studio and concert career permit it. He is an habitual member of tours and recordings of spanish pop stars such as Joaquin Sabina, Miquel Ríos, Marta Sanchez, Lolita, Martirio, Victor Manuel, Ana Belén, Joan Manuel Serrat and many more.
