| Death Of A Union started in early 2007 as a punk rock n roll band, though through trial and error with members and music they evolved into a band that is a really good mesh of different styles they grew up on - from bands like NOFX and ALL to newer hard rock (The Bled, etc). Now armed with music they are truly proud of they have set out to play shows and gain as many fans as possible. With angry yet hopeful, personal and occasionally political lyrics in the vein of Greg Graffin atop a bed of melodic punk-meets-modern rock riffage, Death Of A Union come on strong with biting diatribes on the current state of government disinformation and parental indifference, while also delivering heartfelt tributes to a fallen friend and hopeful odes to a brighter more unified future. Furious basslines meld with involved guitar parts, while the drums blast through corresponding fills providing the ever-constant sometimes reggae-influenced backbeat. All the parts add up to the fresh overall sound - simultaneously at home with the "faster, louder" punk crowd and the more riff-heavy sounds of today's modern rock bands. The name Death Of A Union implies a belief that the "scene" often pays lip service to unity, and yet in doing so creates its own ghetto. Perhaps the music of this band can help bridge some gaps left vacant in the current musical landscape. Oh yeah, and they make you wanna shake what your momma gave ya. |
