| Nat Jay took her first steps in her parents' music school and continues to land on her feet in the world of music today. With her single, "Love When I Can" appearing in ABC's Men In Trees in 2008, a cut on this year's Music BC Compilation disc and the highly anticipated release of her debut EP scheduled for the summer, the young talent has hit the ground running and doesn't plan ..ping anytime soon.
After studying music at the University of British Columbia as a flautist and vocalist, she put her education to use as an emerging singer/songwriter in the burgeoning Vancouver music scene. Nat Jay’s diverse musical background allows her to gracefully bridge her classical training with the raw resonance of folk and pop music. With a twist of soul and a shot of heartbreak, the rising songstress has written many of her most meaningful songs in the depths of her darkest hours and sings of overcoming her personal challenges. Nat's powerhouse voice has quickly made a mark in the industry, performing alongside several esteemed musicians, including Justin Rutledge, Dan Mangan, Patrick Brealey and Winston. As an advocate in the development of BC's music industry, Nat is an active member of Music BC’s Membership Committee and a budding music writer who reports the news from the artist’s perspective. Nat is a published entertainment author and has contributed to publications like the Georgia Straight and BC Musician Magazine. Most recently, she has taken on the challenging position of Editor with Discorder Magazine, a monthly publication out of CiTR radio that promotes local and independent music. Whether in writing or on stage, Nat Jay’s multi-faceted talent is a unique addition to the Vancouver music scene. |
