Il gruppo musicale Cascarèa nasce dall’evoluzione del progetto musico-letterario Aquarata , che ha avuto come obiettivo il connubio tra testi di poesia vernacolare, che miravano al recupero delle tradizioni, e una ricerca tesa al mescolamento del folk a diversi altri generi musicali.

L’ensemble si forma la prima volta nel Giugno 2005 , per rappresentare l'Italia alla "Fête de la Musique" tenutasi il 21 giugno dello stesso anno a Grenoble (Francia), evento che ha coinvolto musicisti di ogni parte del mondo. Il successo ottenuto nell’ambito della manifestazione internazionale francese spinge alla realizzazione del progetto Aquarata. Da qui la registrazione ( VS RECORDS - Bitonto (BA) ) e la pubblicazione nel Dicembre 2005 del primo album “Candenne candenne...” , una composizione sperimentale, le cui 12 tracce sono il risultato in musica di una intensa attività linguistico-culturale legata al recupero delle tradizioni.Le differenti esperienze musicali dei componenti, di formazione musicale accademica e d extra-accademica, si fondono fra loro e contribuiscono alla realizzazione di un suono compatto e multicolore, di sapore etnico-popolare e d’impatto emotivo immediato, ove testo, melodia e ritmi serrati agiscono mescolandosi abilmente.

Durante il 2006 si esibisce in diverse piazze e teatri della regione. Nel Luglio si esibiscono come gruppo ospite a " Farinella d' Estate ", 1° edizione estiva del Carnevale di Putignano , giungono finalisti al concorso nazionale " Ritmika 2006 " e si aggiudicano il " Premio per la musica d' autore " al " Festival della Valle dell' Ofanto " in Margherita di Savoia (FG). Compaiono su numerose testate giornalistiche e varie emittenti televisive regionali, presentati come uno dei gruppi emergenti più promettenti degli ultimi anni a livello regionale. Nello stesso anno lavorano per la composizione di ben 14 nuovi brani, che entrano a far parte di un nuovo album " Tèrra Nòste " (VS RECORDS - Bitonto (BA) ), pubblicato nel Dicembre 2006. Il nuovo album è un viaggio musicale attraverso l' intera regione pugliese. Le tradizioni coratine sono qui il pretesto per raccontare i paesaggi, le tradizioni e le bellezze di questa straordinaria regione e gli storici intrecci della sua cultura con quella greca e araba. Nel disco compaiono per la prima volta nuovi suoni come flauti, tampura, surmandala launeddes, armonium, hang e sonorità orientali, frutto di una ricerca delle radici musicali comuni con tali civiltà.

Il 2007 inizia con una nuova serie di concerti nella regione e non, e con la partecipazione alle finali provinciali " Arezzo Wave 2007 " e all’ “ Arè Rock Festival ” (Barletta). Si esibiscono come gruppo ospite presso l’ auditorum “San Pio X” di L’ Aquila assieme al “Concentus Serafino Aquilano”. Si aggiudicano il 1° posto al " Radici Etno Contest ", che permetterà l' esibizione al " Radici Festival " sul Pollino, assieme ai Modena City Ramblers . Partecipano ancora alle fai finali del " Sileno South Contest " , di " Suoni a Sud Est " e del " Festival della Valle dell' Ofanto 2007 ", classificandosi al 3° posto . Diversi sono anche i passaggi televisivi e radiofonici, di cui si segnalano Telenorba , Telesveva , Teleregione , Rai Radio 1 , Radionorba , Radio Ciccio Riccio e Controradio .

Nel 2008 giungono secondi al concorso "Spazio Musica” di Cerignola (FG) e vincono l' edizione 2008 de "La Musica nelle Aie” .

A music group made up of promising young musicians from Corato, who firstmet in June 2005 to represent Italy atGrenoble’s “ Fête de la Musique ”:their success at that French festival, their commitment and professionality and most of all the enthusiasm shown by all of the players led to create the musical/literary project “Aquarata”.

This in turn led to the recording and release in December 2005 of their first album " Candenne candenne… ”, the musical result of intense cultural and linguistic efforts to preserve the traditions of Corato. An experimental composition exploring the traditions, customs and characters in the town of Corato using the local dialect.Their various different musical backgrounds,both academic and non-academic,come together to create a compact multi-coloured sound, with an immediate impact and an ethno-pop feel to it, in which lyrics, melodies and lively rhythms combine to produce great harmony.

In 2006 , Aquarata played in a number of squares and theatres in Apulia. In July,they were invited to play at " Farinella d'Estate ", the summer edition of the Putignano Carnival , they reached the final of the nationwide competition “ Ritmika 2006 ” and won the Original Music prizeat the “ Festival della Valle dell' Ofanto ” in Margherita di Savoia. In the press and on TV they were talked about as being one of the most promising new groups to come out of the region for many a year.They then worked on the composition of 14 new tracks for the new album " Tèrra Nòste ", which came out in December 2006, a musical journey across the length and breadth of the Apulian region: Corato’s traditions are the pretext for a paean of the landscapes, traditions and beauty of this outstanding region and its historic connections with Greek and Arab culture. For the first time, this album contains such new sounds as flutes, tanpuras, swarmandals,launeddas, harmoniums, hanghang and Oriental harmonies.

They have played at many festivals of ethnic music, as well as getting television appearancesand radio slots on local and nationwide stations. In 2007 they have played at " Arezzo Wave 2007 " and at “ Arè Rock Festival ” (Barletta). They have played in L'Aquila with “ Concentus Serafino Aquilano ” at auditorum “San Pio X”. They have won " Radici Etno Contest " so they have played at " Radici Festival ", on the Pollino mountain, with Modena City Ramblers. They had part in final rush of " Sileno South Contest " , " Suoni a Sud Est " and " Festival della Valle dell' Ofanto 2007 ", where they get the 3° position.

In 2008 they got the 2° position at " Spazio Musica " in Cerignola (Fg) and they have won " La Musica nelle Aie 2008 " in Faenza (Ra), one of the most important folk music festival in Italy.
