About Me

I am a musician living in Bristol, England having moved here from Belfast, N. Ireland. I've been playing in pubs and clubs from the age of fourteen. As well as vocals I play guitar, mandolin, keyboards, bouzouki, ukelele, tin whistle, bass and have recently acquired a musical saw which gives hours of pleasure. I am doing solo shows around the south west and I also work with a group of special needs students called The Residentz who are shortly to release their third album (June 2008). A solo album will also be released then called Hearth Alive. A collection of Irish music, some of it traditional and some not so. This will be the eighth album on my label A Chara Music.A discography of these albums,A Midsummer Night's Dream: Pete Burns' Bowmanghani (1994), Indeed: Bowmanghani (1995), Cathoholic: Bowmanghani (1997), Cake: The Residentz (2000), We Like To ... : Bowmanghani (2000), Quite Right!: The Residentz (2005), Hearth Alive: Peter Burns (2008), Resi-Vision: The Residentz (2008).I hope you like the music.Among the bands and projects I have been involved with from 1979 to the present are; Emerald, Hi-Rise (Belfast), The Draft Dodgers (Coleraine), Sharp Angel (London), Wylde Green (Duh!), The Monahans, Hairy Mary, Skelad, the Brew Band and a few others I can't remember the names of (Bristol). In theatre I wrote the original score to A Mid-summer Night's Dream which toured in Germany and Holland and formed the basis of the 1994 album and subsequent group BOWMANGHANI. In film I contributed three pieces to the film Our Voice - about the experiences of a group of special needs students. The most recent solo album HEARTH ALIVE was based originally around the music of Turlogh O'Carolan, the 17th century Harpist and latterly developed into an exploration of the Irish music that seemed popular in the Belfast of the early 70's where I grew up.

A Young Person’s Introduction to The Beatles
