| We're a band that isn't afraid to have too much fun. All the songs were recorded in our practice space, thus the sound is not perfect. Sometimes it sounds like Casey is singing through a radio, which, while interesting, is not intentional. We'll get studio stuff at some point. Kind words that have been said: "...The Don’ts and Be Carefuls seem to be of a similar artistic outlook as their scenemates Lil’ Slugger: be wildly original and weird yet accessible. They were a 4-piece band with the usual rock instruments and a synth player. They also had these 2 cute dancer girls who looked like they just got out of avant garde ballet class off to stage left moving to their music. It was sort of a noisy, danceable post-punk thing with low-end synth to bolster the presence of the songs. They reminded me only a little bit of old Modest Mouse but that may have just been the singer’s vocals because their music was a lot more sharp-edged than that. Before their last song, the lead singer said “We don’t deserve this, this is our third show,” to acknowledge the fact that they were on such a high profile bill. But when you have a band as good and as interesting as these guys, such modesty will soon be unnecessary." - Tom Murphy, Westword "I did make it in time to catch the Don'ts and Be Carefuls again, who had a less noisy and more composed set than the night before opening for HEALTH. Recalling the Swell Maps’ more coherent moments, mixed with the feeling of youthful exuberance and innocence you get listening to Modern Lovers first record, the catchy pop of [The] Don’ts and Be Carefuls merges indie rock with funkier post-punk elements while trying not to be too polished. The group isn’t great yet, but it’s easy to see how it will continue to get better, especially considering that the band is already writing solid songs that keep your attention. On top of that, the members possess a great energy and maintain a vibe that makes them instantly likeable. ...
