| Turkey’ s black metal band "The Sarcophagus" was formed by Nahemoth & Heimdall in the winter of 1996.When Sephiroth(Thyrouth) joined the band, the music style became more evident and specific.After having a lot of problem about the lack of member they decided to continue the way with 3 members and finally they released the first demo "Pagan storm" at the beginning of 1998.The demo had a great success in Turkish underground scene and then reached to abroad by the distributions who always supported them.(Hail to thee!!!!!).Although it’s sound was not good enough "Pagan Storm" was an one of an important step for Turkish black-metal scene.After releasing the demo for two years they could not be active but they were playing in gigs only.The Sarcophagus seperated their ways with Heimdall(vocal).In the fall of 2000 Nahemoth(vocals/drums) & Sephiroth(all guitars) entered the Studio Zoo for the recording of the finest release "Infernal Hordes of the Ancient Times".While the recording was going on Imhotep took the sinner mission of bass guitar.Promo could not be released until 2003 because of the problems which are not related with the band.Promo was just sold in Ankara with limited copies.In these days Nahemoth was playing with Raven woods also and more busy with it so Sarcophagus did nothing but work on about a few new songs."Infernal Hordes of the Ancient Times" is much more symphonic, cruel and dark than "Pagan Storm."It sounds like norse style and symphonic with keyboards, and have a cult Anatolian sound also."Infernal Hordes of the Ancient Times have infernal lyrics about the creatures of darkness and night, the dark spirit of nature,Anatolian cult legens, mystic atmosphere of long winters and grim battles against the people who had brought new beliefs and destroy the ancient beliefs and cultures.
Nowadays Imhotep is in Canada and playing with his new band Anatolian Wisdom which will release their first recording soon.
