Unfortuantely it isn't an easy task. You must have love ,passion and knowledge for the music and all that it brings, the good and the bad. You must know the business that you are in and understand the concept of artist management. If you are in unfamiliar territory, please get out and not ruin someone's life and/or your own. These are people's livelihoods you are dealing with, as I always say, be able to contribute, educate and help elevate the artist to the next level.It has well been proven throughtout the years that some managers are not in the best interest of the artist (that's a reality) and not every manager is a manager. To have a title beside your name means nothing when you can't execute a plan to achieve success for an artist.So to every artist out there on the come up: Please educate yourself, understand what a manager is and what they are suppose to do for you, find out how you get paid, where your money comes from, etc....... Pick up a book, ask questions and remember, you have to live with the decisions you make at the end of the day. So be smart and get involved in your career with a better understanding of how things can work for you and not against you.
