I love music, movies, reading, metaphysics and studying the various facets of communications and philosophy. I am eclectic and if you think you know all of what I am, then you are surely mistaken. In life, I try to be as authentic to myself as I can be, and what I think about something one day may not be the same as the next depending on the additional information I may have received and analyzed in the interim. The wisest people, in my opinion, are those who aren't afraid to say, "I don't know" instead of pretending that they know about every little thing. Life is an ongoing educational journey.
The main thing you should know is that I have a good heart and have a huge capacity for compassion, but by the same token, just because I seem laid back, that shouldn't be taken for weakness or complacency; in fact, I am a warrior and a fighter when the need arises and I'm one of the most tenacious persons you'll ever meet -- it's just that it's all hidden under an unassuming facade. If you want to see the lamb become a ferocious lion, then cross or hurt my friends or family and the warrior woman will emerge (I have Mars, Pluto and Uranus in the 1st house of my astrological natal chart - need I say more?)
I am fascinated by the Greek warrior goddess Athena, and if you know about her then you know she was at first a mediator if at all possible, but when it came time to defend or protect, she did so with bravery and unmistakable power. She was androgynous and not at all a "girly girl" goddess or figure, and I'm not "girly girl" either. I'm strong AND feminine and I don't believe the two are in conflict with one another.

Born in Covington, Virginia and raised as an Army brat, I got to travel all over the States and have visited eight foreign countries (and lived in one of them -- Germany) during my lifetime. I was adopted at the age of six days old and have four brothers -- two adopted and two by birth. I am the youngest child and was pretty much the only child in the house after the age of ten. At the age of six I appeared on the early-morning kids' TV show, "Romper Room." That day they ran out of chocolate milk on the set and I was displeased. Of course, I brazenly spoke out about it on camera, too. *g*
As a young girl, I was always highly involved in a variety of activities. I wrote my first actual short story in 6th grade and snagged a paying gig as a teen columnist with the Colorado Springs Sun's 'Tempo' page at the age of 17. In high school, I was in on the journalism staff for four years and served as the high school newspaper editor my senior year. I was also president of the French Club and a member of National Honor Society, graduating in the top ten percent of my high school class. My mom is actually to blame, as she had me in ballet, tap dance, piano and majorette classes all before the age of ten. Heck, all I really wanted to do was write, read and listen to music -- alone -- in my spare time. My mother is a Leo...need I say more? *grin*
Growing up, I wanted to be a writer, marine biologist and attorney. I actually grew up to become a professional writer, though marine biologist still seems like a cool thing to be.
I'm fascinated by sharks, amused by slinkies, turned on by men with long hair, had my tongue pierced at age 36 and have four tattoos (all I which I got after the age of 36 as well.) I'm as likely to listen to Marilyn Manson or Cradle of Filth as I am to Mozart or Beethoven. I don't do country or gangsta rap music.
Apostrophes fascinate me and I get annoyed off when they're misused; however, I have been known to wantonly split infinitives and haphazardly comma splice on occasion. I know the rules, but I still break those same rules on occasion. Blame it on my Gemini moon.
I reserve the right to change my mind about ANYTHING (Gemini moon) once I've had a chance to analyze and view things from many sides (Virgo rising). Unfortunately, I can be blunt and sarcastic at times (Sagittarius).
Professionally, my writing has been featured in hundreds of publications (in print and online) since I became a full-time freelancer in May 1997. I am a co-author of "The Complete Writer" (August 2005; Red Engine Press) and author of "Sun Signs for Writers" (August 23, 2006; Writer's Digest Books), and "Mending Fences" (September 6, 2006; Whiskey Creek Press).
I will be graduating from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs with a Bachelors degree in Communication and a Minor in Philosophy (emphasis on Eastern Religions -- particularly Taoism). I plan to teach writing and creative communication at the university level. Nonverbal communication is a special subject of interest to me as well.
Although I'm in my early 40s, most people think I'm still in my 30s -- mainly because I think young, not old. I'm the mother of two amazing and brilliant teenagers and am owned by four cats (Isis, Osiris, Lucy and KiKi). My fiance and I plan to adopt a Spectacled Flying Bat (Flying Fox) bat this year and intend to do so each year from here on.
Heritage-wise, I'm a mixture of Scottish, Welsh, English, Dutch, Spanish, German and Native American.
In March 2006 I was engaged to my amazing, sexy fiance, Paul . Our official betrothal ceremony/handfasting was May 5, 2007. My fiance and I are co-founders of the International Order of Horror Professionals .
In summary, I am the proud mother of two teenagers (one of whom is a freshman at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts!), a soon-to-be wife for the second time, a horror lover, a music lover (gothic, industrial, metal, alternative, classical), an avid reader (my fiance and I have more books than we can count!), a tattoo enthusiast and a die-hard eclectic. I also love lemurs, bats and meercats!

* I read mostly non-fiction about anything/everything. Fiction-wise, I prefer genre fiction such as horror, erotica and romance. I'm not one of those "lit snobs," and I don't believe if you're a "lit snob" that it makes you (a) better or (b) smarter than anybody else.
* Used to be an ENFP, but in the past several years I turned into a complete INFP. Unless you're an ENFP/INFP on the Myers-Briggs personality scale, I might drive you batty! (evil laugh)
* Team leader for the Colorado Springs Paranormal Association (C.S.P.A.), an affiliate of ICPIR (International Community for Paranormal Investigation and Research.) I take the study of the paranormal very seriously. I am also interested in quantum mechanics and scored highest in science on my college entrance exams.
* Am a registered Independent and I consider myself a (proud) liberal. I loathe Ann Coulter and Nancy Grace makes my teeth itch.
* Paul and I are both World of Warcraft devotees. My main character is a human warrior named Bellamort (Beautiful Death) on the Elune server. My secondary characters I play when I'm not kicking ass as Bellamort (on Elune), I'm playing as my secondary warrior, Athenys (on Kul Tiras realm), my warlock, Aveliahell, my Night Elf rogue, Lythia, (both on Elune) or my Blood Elf rogue, Matahari (Twisting Nether). I prefer Alliance over Horde.
