| At the age of 10 Laura Healy was told by her schoolteacher to stop singing so loudly in the choir as she was drowning out the other children in the class. Not something most children would recover from! Laura, however, kept on singing, convinced her voice was worth listening to.Drawn simultaneously to the romanticised lyrics of folk music, the effects of a chilling rock guitar solo, and the rawness of americana music, she gathered ideas and began writing poems and songs, as well as singing backing vocals for various local artists in Glasgow where she grew up.She took up the guitar to bring the songs in her head to life and started playing live. After working behind the scenes in television for several years, she returned to her first love of music.By times forceful and opinionated, by times vulnerable and disillusioned, her songs are honest and uncompromising. And, for the time being, she shows no signs of "stopping singing so loudly" either....................Laura is currentlly gigging with her new band and has recently recorded a new EP which was released at The Beat Club at the end of 2007.
