About Me |
|
| Music the way it is today certainly isn’t music the way it was yesterday. From beyond the embers of a once mighty juggernaut the surviving veterans and new vanguard alike stand to take centre stage in what many are coming to see as both the greatest leap forward and the biggest setback the modern musical industry has ever faced.Enter Jer Martin.Lacking what most would consider an essential musical upbringing, it wasn’t until first hearing a broadcast of Paul van Dyk’s Essential Mix in the year 2000 that any attention was paid to the electronic stylings that would soon envelop him. Many months, many e-mails and a great many hours of listening later, the course was clearly set and defined.Fast forward eight years and the result is a dedication similar to many but parallel to a rare few. After experiments with different styles, aliases and production methods the quintessential Jer Martin sound came to rest on a fusion of techy house samplings with simple but melodic elements added for variety. Not one to put all the eggs in one basket, the Canaan Miller and Incognito aliases are kept on standby for both trancier and more left-fielded output, respectively.Regardless of name though, the primary goal of any production is quality; simply put. A smaller body of work will be the price paid, but in the longer run and the greater scope it’s a sacrifice that any artist would be more than happy to make.2008 will see releases under each of the aliases as well as a few surprises still to be revealed. The future of the industry may be uncertain – but there’s one man that’s very much welcomes the challenges that await. |
