When the lights go out on the city streets and I'm left alone with my own doubt that bleeds me dry and burns me out that's when I know that I'm exactly where I need to be. In worn out shoes, in a worn out place it's here I realize that it couldn't have happened any other way cause the candle in my mind should have burned out long ago but the darkness doesn't fuck with a mind that knows that the truth is relative, why won't they show us our relatives coming home? And why do they silence our questions? Say that they know what's best for us and what we need, when what we need is an overflowing doubleshot of domestically brewed democracy. Cause we the people born of both good and evil have our ear to the ground and hear a revolution coming and we're talking in the drums that you hear on your streets and we're dancing in the smoke that only our lungs can breathe but still the song is relative, why won't they show us our relatives coming home? They'll let you speak your mind but don't you make a sound if you imagine a query that questions the grounds of the American way of where it begins or might end, which lands we own and which homes we'll defend. Do you remember the Move, or does your mind stand still when you stop to think of all the people that your tax money's killed and could you ever be the same now that you know too much knowing where the monster sleeps and where we lost touch with a truth that we'd earned and a love that we'd learned could save from burning these bridges? And we'll never stop salting these wounds that can heal to prove it's not what you believe, it's all what you know. It only takes an army of one to fight the wrong fight to support the wrong war, to ride through the night in the wrong direction without ever questioning the mossy trees that you pass with northern lights on your back all the while expecting your train to come in with your fare in your hand while you're roped to the track but know that freedom will come to those that do need it so believe that you're chosen while we ride out of Egypt. |
