Heroes:Sam began Projekt in 1983 with a cassette compilation of South Florida electronic artists. After a number of cassette-only electronic releases, in 1986 Projekt released the first black tape for a blue girl on vinyl. In 1989, the first black tape cd. In 1992 the label became a full-time occupation / obsession for Sam, with many new signings and a growing presence in the American darkwave scene. We were at it before Cleopatra or Metropolis even started! = ). In the mid-90s, Projekt employed 11 people, based in Chicago. Now we're down to a comfortable staff of 3.5 in Brooklyn, NY. |
