Picture by: Nikki (Artist/Photographer) Deep C - The Red Scratch Hi, I go by the DJ name Deep C as you can probably tell, known by friends and family usually as Dave, im 28, currently living, DJing and partying in and around Wrexham. I started DJ’ing in the summer of 2002 whilst messing about on a housemates’ pair of turntables and quickly grasped the concepts of mixing. Soon after that went and bought a reasonable DJ package and quickly became addicted to scratching and mixing up various genres, such as DnB (being my preferred mixing style), Hip Hop, BigBeat, Breakbeat and Funk and just took it as a hobby and a bit o fun. In 2005 I came to Wrexham to study for a degree in Sound and Studio Engineering and quickly started to meet people also into DJ’ing and have similar musical interests. Not long after, a group called Zanzana was formed to start pushing DnB, Breaks & Hip Hop out at parties. The Zanzana parties soon became, and still are, a regular thing around Wrexham. A few years down the line and I landed myself independantly in the clubs of Wrexham and have more recently expanded to Bangor for a regular night called LOCO at the student union known as ‘Academi’ at which I became one of the DnB resident DJs. I also have frequent sets down at ‘The Old Swan’ and 'Central Station' in Wrexham and also joined a group called ‘Dirtee Rotten Scoundrels’ as their scratch DJ.
