About Me

Almost every day I experience some great joy, and almost every day I experience some great sadness.

And I wouldn't have it any other way.

I read a lot of comic books.
I drink GOOD beer, and brew my own.
I listen to a LOT of music (hardcore punk, country, indie rock, hip hop, etc) http://ipoddity.livejournal.com
I like history.
I like adventure.

My Interests

social contract theory, the teapot dome scandal, architecture, tijuana bibles.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who wants to start a band, write a comic book, publish zines, trade recipes, watch weird movies, play mini golf.

Music:

Bane, Fugazi, Elvis Costello, The Smiths, Johnny Cash, Devo, Hot Water Music, Uncle Tupelo, Talking Heads, Sick Of It All, Sleater-Kinney, Bob Dylan, The World/Inferno Friendship Society, The Clash, The Ramones, Blood Brothers, Flaming Lips, Turning Point, Crime In Stereo, The Causey Way, Fishbone, Mission Of Burma, Belle And Sebastian, Spitvalves, and on and on and on.

Movies:

MOTORAMA, The Blues Brothers, Batman Begins, Fight Club, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Clerks, Rushmore, Dr. Strangelove, Thank You For Smoking, The Science Of Sleep, Little Miss Sunshine... I could ramble on much farther. I have a huge list of movies I have been meaning to watch.

Television:

I very rarely ever watch TV. I absolutely refuse to ever pay for it, so I'll never buy cable or satellite, etc, but I suppose I'd be OK with stealing cable, if only for Cartoon Network and the History Channel. The ONLY current show I actually make any effort to watch is Arrested Development (RIP). There are also a few old TV shows I love, like The Prisoner and M*A*S*H.

Books:

Kurt Vonnegut, Greg Palast, Noam Chomsky, Bill Watterson, Stephen Donaldson, Douglas Adams, Brian Michael Bendis, Robert Kirkman, Brian Vaughn. In addition to movies, I've been meaning to get back into some more serious literature.

Heroes:

It's funny, despite my love of comic books, I really have a personal philosophy that disdains the entire notion of "having heroes." Maybe it's just an extension of my extreme dislike of celebrity worship. That said, here are some people who sometimes inspire me, and I greatly admire for the strength of their convictions, ethics, courage, and innovation; Abbie Hoffman, Mike Park, Paul Robeson, Johnny Cash, Erik Larsen, Jimmy Wales.
