About Me

I've been playing guitar for 30+ years and have a wide array of musical interests. As a girl I was in love with the Stones from the word GO. I swiped my older sister's "Through the Past Darkly" LP and wore the grooves off it. I thought Keith Richards was the coolest cat I'd ever seen---and wanted to play just like him. When I started playing guitar, they wouldn't teach me to ROCK, so I became an acoustic finger picker first. Although I love that music and was very influenced by Nancy Wilson of HEART as a teenager, I always wanted to play rock and blues. Now I am primarily a blues player, and have really started to focus on playing slide. I think Sonny Landreth is the greatest slide player there is, and both his style and guitar tone make me strive to be better. I have played in bands off and on since I was a teenager, but I did not seriously pursue it until I finished graduate school.I'm in a new band called "The CoverGrrlz!" This is a band full of ladies that ROCK HARD. Not as much blues in this band, but lots of Stones---and they are blues!

The main love of my life is a completely un-altered 1979 Gibson SG. I knew the second I picked up this guitar that I would never let it go! It's a heavy, solid guitar with a very plain ebony fretboard that feels sweet on the fingers. It sounds amazing, especially through my Marshall. Keepin' with the SG theme, I recently added a '61 reissue Gibson SG, and I love it. The '57 humbuckers are HOT---for such a light little guitar it really rocks. The action is a *bit* high on this guitar since I also play some slide on it. However, Miss Trixie has a NEW love in her life: a Gibson Flying Vee. This guitar is going to get an overhaul: blue sparkle finish, white pearl pickguard and seymour duncan pick-ups. This is going to be my "Crazy Train Guitar" since The CoverGrrlz just added Crazy Train to our set list. The Vee will have 9-gauge strings (I regulary play with 10's) to help me pick up my speed!I also have an Eric Clapton "Blackie" Strat that I use for slide (my "open G" guitar), an Adamas 6-string acoustic, vintage 1974 Washburn acoustic, Liberty Copperhead Resonator guitar, Alvarez 12-string, mandolin, and an ancient but sweet sounding violin.

I play my electrics through a Marshall DSL401 amp and currently use an Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer to pump up the sound. I am exploring a wide selection of effects pedals and am especially having fun with my digital delay---I gotta get that haunting sound on the "Gimme Shelter" intro! I also love how Buddy Guy uses delay on his version of Red House (live). Now THAT'S the way a guitar should sound!

My Interests

Music, family, art, fitness, really good wine, and enjoying life in general!

I'd like to meet:

Keith of course! Not to sound cheesy (I promise I won't say I'm a "people person") I like meeting pretty much everyone, but I especially like meeting other musicians of all types---but especially other guitarists. It's the best way to learn all kind of tricks of the trade! Call me anything, just don't call me late for a jam!

Music:

BLUES! I love 'em! But if you look in my CD collection, you'll find all kinds of stuff---funk, metal, bluegrass, classic rock.

Movies:

My favorite movie is: LA STORY. But I also love any movie with Gregory Peck.

Television:

I don't watch TV.

Heroes:

Guitar Heroes are: Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Sonny Landreth, Mick Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy, Jimi, SRV, and Nancy Wilson!
