Once upon a time, in school times, or at least shortly after leaving school, it was in 1995 when Marcel and Stev occupied the living room of their parents in order to learn how to play an instrument. Everybody who has ever tried to do this on his own can surely imagine what "interesting sounds" were created in this time of practising and experiencing. But they were really successful with their practise and so they finally founded their project "Novalis" in the year 2000. It was in 2001 when they recorded their first ideas resulting in the EP "First Cadence". Formerly completely financed by themselves they were soon introduced to Black Rain, the label which would produced their "first steps". After this a period of lots of hours of practice and collecting ideas inspired by life followed, which took approximately one year until the first album "Last Years Calling" was finished. In the same year, Mario with his drums completed the current line-up of Novalis. From this time forward he not only enriches the band itself but also the friendship among all band members. Since the middle of 2004 the three guys have been spending a lot of time in the studio and have been working on their new album "Paradies..???" which is going to be released in early 2005... I hope that I will be able to extend this biography with some more years because both the band and their fans are worth it. Eigentlich begann alles noch in der Schule, wenigstens aber nach Beendigung dieser, als 1995 Marcel und Stev das elterliche Wohnzimmer besetzten, im festen Vorhaben ein Instrument zu erlernen. Jeder der selbst diesen Versuch unternommen hat, kann sich vorstellen, welch "interessante Klangbilder" in der folgenden Zeit entstanden. Um genaueren Ausführungen aus dem Weg zu gehen, sei nur gesagt, sie waren wirklich erfolgreich in ihrem Streben und gründeten anno 2000 das Projekt "Novalis". Der Öffentlichkeit zum ersten Mal zugänglich wurden ihre Ideen im Jahre 2001, als ihre EP "First Cadence" aufgenommen wurde. Zunächst von den Beiden selbst finanziert, fand sich in "Black Rain" doch schon bald ein Label, welches ihre "ersten Versuche" produzierte. Was nun folgte waren unzählige Stunden im Proberaum, ein Jahr zum Sammeln von Ideen inspiriert vom Leben, bis endlich das Album "Last Years Calling" entstand. Im selben Jahr kam durch Zufall Mario mit seinem Schlagzeug zu Novalis hinzu. Er bereichert seitdem als festes Mitglied sowohl die Musik, als auch die Freundschaft innerhalb der Band. Seit Mitte diesen Jahres stehen die drei Jungs nun im Studio und feilen an ihrem neuen Album "Paradise…???". Ich hoffe, dass ich diese Biographie noch um einige Jahre erweitern darf, zu wünschen wäre es der Band und all ihren Fans. [written by Nadine Boehnke] |
