| Music for Grown-Ups was formed in London in 2002, around the song writing of John Hughes. The group spent a period playing the regular London haunts before Hughes and several other members moved to Paris, where the band is now based. Growing out of a tradition of plaintive pop that includes The Smiths, Joy Division, Nick Cave, Pulp, Lambchop, and Tindersticks, the group performs requiems of love and loss, of melancholy and madness. Along with Hughes on vocals, the current line-up includes original members Jane Burke ..o and Aaron Robertson on guitar, as well as newcomers Matthieu Hirsch on bass, and Nicolas Thomä (Fùko) on drums. Music for Grown-Ups has recently finished recording its fifth release, ‘My Heart, My Heart’. Fondé à Londres en 2002 autour des compositions de John Hughes, Music for Grown-Ups a débuté dans les bars alternatifs de Londres avant de s’installer à Paris. Nourris de pop sombre (The Smiths, Joy Division, Nick Cave, Pulp, Lambchop, et Tindersticks), ils nous parlent de leurs histoires d’amours contrariés, de mélancolie ou de folie douce. La formation originelle du chanteur John Hughes – avec Jane Burke au violoncelle et Aaron Robertson à la guitare – est aujourd’hui complétée par Matthieu Hirsch à la basse et Nicolas Tomä(Füko) à la batterie. Music for Grown-Ups vient de terminer l’enregistrement de son cinquième album « My Heart, My Heart ». |
