About Me |
|
| Born in Texas. On the 24th of February 1991, is where it all began. Sure, he didn't come into the world beating up a guitar, but, by the way he plays these days, one may have been lead to think he did. However, the interest in music did start early. Whether it was taking note to the way Elvis sang and moved, or sitting in front of his Papaw Booker for hours as he played the guitar, Tyler was mesmerized. A few years after telling his mother at the age of four that he would learn how to play, he began his collection of guitars. At age seven, Tyler received his very first guitar for Christmas. Tyler's fate was decided.Tyler's musical interest only grew. While other first graders spent Saturdays playing or watching television, Tyler plucked away at the strings of his guitar. A few years down the road, Tyler fell in love with a red a guitar at a local guitar shop in Paris, TX. He was 10, and seeing as money doesn't grow on trees, Tyler sold his dirt bike that he had gotten for Christmas for this particular guitar. One day, while Tyler was playing a little Jimmy Reed shuffle at Holly Bond Music in Paris, an African American man in his early sixties took notice to the way Tyler played. This man was Mr. Roosevelt Twitty, and during this first encounter between the two, Mr. Twitty walked on over and picked up the lead. He was amazed at the talent that this young man possessed. Mr. Twitty, coming from a band named Lakeside Blues, offered to teach Tyler a few new chords. A few sessions later, Mr. Twitty asked Tyler to come and perform with his band. At age eleven, Tyler performed in public for the first time. A little while later, Mr. Twitty quit the Lakeside Blues band and devoted most of his time to Tyler. These two together after performing a couple times were nick-named The Blues Buddies. The Blues Buddies made their rounds playing at parties, benefits, and clubs, such as the Gypsy Tea Room, Fair Park Music Hall, and Deep Ellum Blues in Dallas, Texas. But, unfortunately, Mr. Twitty came across some health problems and couldn't play along anymore. Tyler's new band came to be known as the Tyler Dow Bryant Band. Tyler has worked with Paul Simon, Edie Brickell, Chris Duarte, Brent Rowan, Albert Lee, Steve Lukather, Don and Donnie Nelson, Sean Neff, Wes Jeans, Alan Haynes, Dickey Betts, and many more. At the age of 15, Tyler got his first endorsement with Ernie Ball/Music Man. On May 5, 2007, Steven and Michael Johnson presented Tyler with the Robert Johnson Blues Foundation's New Generation Award, naming him the most promising blues artist of 2007. Tyler, who is influenced by the sounds of Jimi Hendrix, Alan Haynes, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Muddy Waters, B. B. King and other blues legends, has made quite a name for himself. He has been backed by God and his family since the beginning, and will tell anyone that they are both the main reason for everything. Whether he is traveling across Europe, or taking the United States by storm, you DO NOT want to miss the Tyler Dow Bryant Band. | |
