| Raised on the green and rocky coast of Brittany (France), Hélène Renaut now claims San Francisco home. As the leader of the group Beam, she recorded a self titled record (released on Antenna Farm Records in 2003), and has also collaborated to quite a few varied projects : violin and string arrangement contribution to folk-pop duo Willow Willow (Mod Lang Records), vocal appearance on soul indie funk act Honeycut’s The day I Turned to Glass (Quannum), original music for theater productions of The False Servant (Marivaux) and The Green Bird (Carlo Gozzi), etc...She is now performing and recording under her own name with rotating guests musicians. Live and on records, the music oscillates between gentle folk, british-influenced pop, and compositions that come closer to a song-poem. Listen and you will be met by a unique harmonic flair, lyrics fished out of the memory of dreams and trees, deer and bees, a captivating French accented voice, and melodies that have been compared to "a paintbrush on figure skates" for their beautiful shapes. Following the self released 2004 Perfection's somewhere near your bones, a new release is planned for 2008 (recorded by Jason Quever of Papercuts, it boasts contributions by Jasmyn Wong and Donovan Quinn of the Skygreen Leopards, long time collaborator Matt Montgomery, and Mr. Quever himself). In the meantime, UK listeners have been made aware by the release of one song as part of the ground breaking compilation, "We Are All Circling the Stars" (Cosmos Recordings, Feb ’08).
