About Me |
|
Always fumbling with creativity... As an independent artist, I've come to know all the work, devotion, and passion involved with creating. So now it's a dream of mine to be able to support and promote indie artists and designers in my own little space. The three photos below are from a recent photo shoot taken by Randy Boverman. Everything Priscilla is wearing is from my boutique in Multnomah Village, outside of Portland, Oregon. What do you get when you mix a lovely model, Priscilla, an amazing photographer (Randy Boverman) with a pinch of my jewelry designs and loads of hand-detailed Hepburn-inspired pieces by Seth Aaron. Pure independent art, made by indie designers. Chunky labradorite necklace featured on the super lovely Priscilla. Anne Bocci necklace $300, Photo: Randy Boverman. Jacket by Seth Aaron. Bracelet at Anne Bocci $300 Geez, now I'm talking to mannequins. My boutique & gallery (Anne Bocci) is in the heart of lovely Multnomah Village, close to the super cool, independent bookstore called Annie Bloom's Books. For me, it's all about supporting indie designers, apparel designers, jewelry designers, handbag designers, painters, photographers and other artist folks. photo: Elisa Lazo de Valdez, Portland, Oregon She is one of my absolute favorite photographers. I am so happy to work with her and have her originals in my gallery. To see more of her photographs or to contact Elisa, her website is http://visioluxus.com. I'm chatting with Dennis Kucinich, US democratic contender for president, about his interview on David Letterman. Mostly, though the attention went to Willie Nelson at Sunday's backyard party. See the new Seth Aaaron collection at my boutique...magnificient. Dry point by Alisa Huntley, $198 To see a few photographs of the designs and artists, look at my "boutique" pictures. My feelings are that no artist's work is safe from personal subconscious mockery...There is always a queer divine dissatisfaction. It just goes with being an artist. That being said, my inspirations and muses for my line of jewelry and boutique are music and people. And connecting people with other people. Silly romance book cover I once modeled for. My favorite secret place in Kauai. Tahitian mabe pearl, iolite, moonstone, and pearls. Tahitian pearl necklace. Blue chalcedony, opal, and pearl necklace. Amethyst and citrine gemstones. 14k. gold. My Interests |

My passions are jewelry, music, art, and people...oh, and espresso. I am a jewelry designer and gallery & boutique owner. Take your life into your own hands and what happens? A terrible thing: no one to blame. Erica Jong NEW INK: August 2007 PORTLAND MONTHLY DERRING-DO DESIGNERS Why do major-league fashion magazines such as Elle, W and Vogue continue to take notice of Portland's burgeoning apparel and accessories scene? The answer is a clear as a Lucite cuff bracelet: because we're home to an increasingly strong and growing cadre of sassy, cutting-edge designers. Leading the way... JEWELRY Anne Bocci Artisan Boutique & Gallery After seven years spent honing her jewelry-making skills on Oahu, designer Anne Bocci has a style firmly rooted in island flair. Using natural materials from Tahitian pearls to moonstones, Bocci captures the luminescent glow of, say, a coral reef or an ocean wave in a single earring or necklace. Luckily for us, Bocci returned to her native Portland one and a half years ago, and now sells her Pacific-inspired wares (along with the work of other independent designers) at her boutique in Multnomah Village. PUBLICITY: PRESS: May 25, 2007 from PORTLAND PICKS: Having a Ball We’re fond of Multnomah Village. Its narrow streets and small-town feel remind us of the good things in life. And now there’s one more good thing to add to the area, so good that we classify it as fabulous: Anne Bocci. Anne’s known round town for her jewelry designs, and now she’s finally set up shop in SW Portland to showcase some of the best indie designers around. The new boutique is positively brimming with coolness, full of truly one-of-a-kind exquisite items like Anne’s Tahitian pearl earrings, Dolce purses from Seattle, adorable dresses by independent designer Suzabelle, hand-screened t-shirts of the perfect softness, bags made from board games and recycled fabric, snappy trenchcoats in time for the June rains—all this stuff you’re going to want, and you’re going to want it now. Stop by Friday, June 1, starting at 6 pm for First Friday, showcasing the works of photographer Elisa Lazo de Valdez. And whew! It’s a good thing that Anne gets new stuff in every day—we don’t have to wait long to get our fix. Anne Bocci artisan boutique & gallery 503.452.3711 And, PORTLAND PICKS, Portland's premier style magazine published this, too. Chick Picks: Pretty is as Pretty Does And pretty girls wear pretty, wearable art jewelry by Anne Bocci. Her otherwordly designs use decadent and fabulous natural materials like South Sea and Tahitian pearls, and semi-precious stones like citrine, chalcedony and opal. We found her when we were looking for fabulous wedding jewelry (for a friend...don't get excited!) and discovered that her work is perfect for all kinds of special occasions. Even if it's just getting up and going to work! Treat yourself to something you'll have for a lifetime. Contact Anne for a private showing...because you're worth it. MY JEWELRY ALSO FEATURED IN: My first friend...aaah, a genius composer and kind man. I a d o r e the spirit, mind, soul, and music of my dear friend, Jean-noel Chaleat, aka Johnny Xmas. Listen to his music, and you too will understand what I mean. If you like the music of Francoise Hardy or Serge Gainsbourg or Alain Chamfort, then listen and melt with me. Not only is he the wonderful composer of their music, but he's such a dear kind soul, so that makes his music even that much more beautiful. To listen, just click on my first friend. I'd like to meet:Anthony Hopkins and his charming, wacky genius character Burt in "The World's Fastest Indian."Hmmm...let's see, I also wouldn't mind having a party with: Jean-Noel Chaleat, aka Johnny Xmas, my friend. Anthony Bourdain, bad-boy chef. Jacques Duvall, because he makes me want a dirty martini with three olives. Kate Bush. Toni Childs. Rachel Taylor Brown. The entire 18 Balls gang. Kramer. And of course, Marty. Then, like usual, my girlfriends: Martine, Gail, Sharon, Teri, Becca, Leslie, Alisa, Katie, Carolyn, Annie, Jan, Connie and Martha just to hang out, and sip our own beverage concoctions, and laugh... You can find my jewelry in galleries in Honolulu, Waikiki, Poipu, Lahaina, Portland, and in small boutiques and private customers in the U.S. Visiting Hawaii? Look for my jewelry in the Black Pearl Kauai Gallery in Poipu, Kauai at 1-800-952-1241 and at Sand People in Poipu, Kauai. You'll also find my jewelry in my boutique & gallery in Multnomah Village, Portland, Oregon. |

Music:Thanks to my dear friend, Jean-Noel Chaleat, aka. Johnny Xmas, Francoise Hardy signed her newest CD for me at their intimate dinner the other night in Paris. Plus, it was a surprise when he passed his cell phone around the dinner table and I was able to talk with Francoise, direct from Paris to Portland. If you love her music, you may want her new CD, "Parentheses." Francoise Hardy. Many of her songs are composed by the incomparable Jean-noel Chaleat, aka Johnny Xmas. Favorite musicians are too many to name: My friend, Jean-noel Chaleat, aka Johnny Xmas; Francoise Hardy; Kate Bush; Keren Ann; Regina Spektor; Damien Rice; Marc Cohn; Bruce Cockburn; David Byrne; John Hiatt; Billie Holiday; Patsy Cline; Rickie Lee Jones; Toni Childs; Dot Allison; Lucinda Williams; Beth Hart; Bic Runga; Natalie Merchant; Beth Orton; PJ Harvey; Tom Waits; Shawn Mullins; Lou Reed; Cat Stevens; Aaron Neville; Deep Forest; Sinatra; Tony Bennett; Edith Piaf; Ella Fitzgerald; k.d. lang; Lyle Lovett; Elvis Costello; Kelly Joe Phelps; Five Blind Boys of Alabama; Dar Williams; Peter Gabriel; Ry Cooder; Ben Harper; Jack Johnson; Israel Kamakawiwo'ole; Cyril Pahinui; Utada Hikaru; Yoshika; Japanese Pop Music; French Lounge Music; Serge Gainsbourg; Henryk Gorecki; Ottmar Leibert; Ennio Morricone; Astor Piazzolla, Syd Barrett, Lindsay Buckingham...And locally, we are surrounded by so many fabulous songwriters, like Rachel Taylor Brown. Her lyrics and voice are compelling. P.S. I'm renaming MySpace to MySpaceOut because it's a time-sponge...I could listen to indie artists all day. Okay...okay...I'm having a torrid love affair with this cello. The bow drawing against the thick current of strings. Waves of audible emotions swirling around in a well of warm wood before being thrown out through veins of light -- yearning, reaching, ripping my heart out and tearing it to pieces as I beg for more. If God has a voice, it surely is a cello. Torture me with a plaintive cello passage in a minor key, and allow me to touch the core of my existence. Let me weep. Allow me to double over in deep, rich melancholy pain and lock me up forever. I beg of you... |

Heroes:Artists, writers, musicians...and those who are witty.Hugs for my father, my ultimate hero. With my dear childhood friend, Marshal. Rhetorical question now...KRAMER is an ultra-gifted producer, musician, and sound man...plus he's such a sweet and personable guy. Who doesn't LOVE this man? If there is someone, I don't want to hear it! I'm on MySpace to connect good friends and artists with other friends. My passion is designing and creating wearable art, but my biggest inspirations are singers, writers and other artists who are true to their craft and are simply following their dreams. If I can help connect artists to other artists, then I am happy. This is where I was a while ago. Now, I'm not. |
