About Me

A vessel of sound

To explore the work of K. Cornelius is to let your mind and body float beyond the enclosure of this realm and fully submerge into the waters of extreme creativity and mind-altering expression. Originally from the WV/MD/DC area the artist now resides and creates in one of her favorite vibrant communities: Buffalo, NY.K. Cornelius is a multimedia artist who uses music, film/video, installation, performance, and other means to reach her aesthetic goals. The artist carefully explores the varied and vivid landscapes of creativity, spirituality, Shamanic Transformation, and inspiration. K. Cornelius is driven to create by a passion within, a desire to better the world from the inside out, and to open pathways to ears, eyes, minds, bodies, and souls.

The instruments K. plays range from a whole world of musical territory and studies. Djembe, Tabla, Doumbek, Darabouka, Frame Drums, Rattles, Waterphone, Sitar, Tanpura, Piano, Guitar, Drum kit, Marimba, Balaphone, Bells, Bowls, Electronics, Found Objects and more echo through a carefully woven organic audible tapestry. K. is available for recording sessions, radio appearances, performance/presentation at private functions, theatrical sound design, film/video sound design, lectures and demonstrations on world music with an emphasis on Indian Classical, African music, Free Jazz, and Improvisation.

Currently K. is training in workshops internationally as well as persuing training in North American, South American, Tibetan, and Siberian Shamanism. K. optimistically plans to attend Graduate Studies in Music Performance/Composition, Ethnomusicology, and Cultural Anthropology.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: transceover.org
Band Members: K. is but the mortal vessel through which many instruments speak and a multitude of sounds flourish.
Influences:

general atmospheric noises found both in the mind and beyond... the sounds of leaves falling and rain going pitter patter... the bols of tabla ascending to the stars and back... subtle drones of the tamboura or shruti box floating in and out... the chi chhi chi chi and clink clink clank of passing trains... the rumble of thunder... the ringing of church bells and the toning of chakra bowls... the buzzing of bees and the flap ffflap flap of seagulls wings... birds migrating... kittens purring... silence...
Sounds Like: a fluid universe...
