INFO(Out of Line) The Legend: Once upon a time, there was anold little church organ that was left alone in an ancientvillage chapel in Lichtenberg in Berlin… she had beenabused in Sunday mass for several decades, and hergraceful sounds would be accompanying the dreadful dirgesof untalented and geriatric people. One night, twovagabonds came by, kidnapped her, and named her “Lola”.Since then, the crazy trio is travelling the world,playing music under the moniker of “Lola Angst” … and onthe run from church and State. Now, they are relentlesslypursuing their goal of total musical worlddomination. Dramatis Personae: Alexandar Goldmann: being a classically trainedchurch organist, he was playing the holy mass in a smallvillage church in Croatia from early childhood onwards…until one fateful Sunday in autumn when the vicar kickedthe adolescent musician from the church after youngAlexandar had been happily spicing up the holy songs withsome devilish improvisations. Since that day, he has beenspending his life with one foot on the world’s concertstages, one foot in jail, and one foot in thegrave. Reiner Schirner is a guy that is virtually marriedto his analog synthesizers. Addicted to the art ofcreating new and exciting sounds, he has been spendingmost of the time of his past years twiddling the knobs ofcult gadgets, such as the Mini Moog or the Linn Drums. In“Lola Angst”, he definitely feels at home… The Show: LOLA ANGST is a monster, clocking in at 300 kg, with 36pipes that can shoot flames up to 8m high. She is thecentral element of the show. Goldmann screams and singsand plays her with both hands and feet, triggeringsynthesizers that Schirner manipulates and tweaks live. Atclub shows, the dream team is accompanied by two beautifulballerinas, Nastja Yakymenko and Cristina Voce from theGerman National Ballet. The stage act of Lola Angst isjust as nonconformist and crazy as the two mainprotagonists… collective madness and instant conversion tothe Church of Lola are side effects that have beenwitnessed at the group’s concerts on a regular basis. The Mission: LOLA ANGST is musical rebellion. After producing an ode toHedonism with “The Council of Love”, the two missionariesof madness, Goldmann and Schirner, are travelling rightinto the demonic heart of German conservatism: to SouthernGermany. The Black Forest is the adequate setting for thefinal, apocalyptic battle between domesticated pigs andwild boars, who have allied themselves with ourheroes. LOLA ANGST have long cancelled their rental flats and arenow travelling 200 days a year as musical nomads in oldbuses that once belonged to the German army and have nowbeen refurbished to become travelling clubs. Theirbus-parties, which take place at secret locations and arescheduled relatively spontaneously, have gained aninternational reputation of being eccentric culthappenings. As the location, date and time are only spreadby mouth-to-mouth propaganda and the group’s Myspaceprofile, these events breathe the exquisite air ofexclusivity. The duo’s mobile lifestyle has some other bigadvantages as well: they can let different places inspirethem, travel the world converting new disciples to theChurch of Lola, and always be a few steps ahead of theauthorities, if the situation should afford it. The wholecrazy jamboree surrounding LOLA and her travels is beingfilmed by a professional crew and will be made into a RoadMovie. LOLA ANGST is not your average band… on an idealisticcrusade for nonconformity and healing madness, it willonly be a matter of time until you become a disciple aswell… Let the Dark Machine roll! |
