MySpace EditorMySpace Layouts MySpace Editor Icons Collage MySpace Graphics Photo CollageBorn in Cagliari in 1973, Marcella obtained her degree in harp at the Cagliari Conservatory of Music in 1995 where she continued additional studies in traditional composition from 1993 to 1997. Until 1998 her emphasis was on classical music, a subject in which she pursued her studies from 1996 to 1998 with Maria Oliva De Poli at the Milan Music School. From 1996 to 1997 she studied under Susanna Mildonian at the Chigiana Accademie in Siena and from 1998 to 2001 with Esther Gattoni at the School for Advanced Musical Studies in Castel S.Giovanni. In 1999 Marcella won 3rd price at the international harp contest UFAM in Paris. In 1998, whilst attending the Umbria Jazz Seminar, Marcella met, for the first time, Park Stickney, a New York harpist, who uses the harp in a jazz context. After this encounter she started to study jazz, first by herself, and then later with Carrol Mc Laughing, Harvi Griffin and, of course, Park Stickney. On a local level she referred to her musical advisers, the pianists Roberto Cipelli and Alessandro Diliberto. In the year 2000 she attended the Civic Jazz School in Milan and in 2003 and 2004 the Siena Jazz Seminars. Since 1999 she has regularly enrolled at the Nuoro Jazz Seminars. At present Marcella is studying the Superior Course of Jazz at the Cagliari College of Music under the guidance of the Australian pianist Peter Waters and continues to take lessons with Park Stickney at various settings in London, Geneva and Italy. Since 1995 she has played with various orchestras and chamber ensembles as well as preforming, in her own right, as a soloist. Currently Marcella is playing in a number of jazz style groups such as: The NAT trio, with Simone Pala (saxophones) and Elisabetta Lacorte (e-bass). The Naima trio, with Francesca Corrias (voice and flute) and Elisabetta Lacorte (e-bass) and as a duo with Simone Massaron (guitar). Marcella has performed in various Jazz events, including; “Time in Jazz”, under the direction of Paolo Fresu, where she preformed with the pianist Peter Waters as well as the group “Ottetodinò” and “Terre di Siena” with Riccardo Zegna (piano), and Gabriele Mirabassi (clarinet).Besides her performing activities, Marcella teaches harp and musical education, in music and public schools.************************ ************************ ************************ ************************ ************************ ************************ ************************ ************************ ************************ ************************Nata a Cagliari nel 1973 si è diplomata in Arpa al Conservatorio di Cagliari nel 1995, ha studiato composizione tradizionale dal 1993 al 1997.Dal 1995 ha svolto attività concertistica, da solista, in orchestra e in formazioni cameristiche di diverso genere.Fino al 1998 studia solamente musica classica, perfezionandosi con Maria Oliva De Poli alla Scuola Musicale di Milano dal 1996 al 1998, con Susanna Mildonian alla Accademia Chigiana di Siena nel 1996 e 1997 e con Esther Gattoni alla Scuola di perfezionamento musicale di Castel S.Giovanni (PI) negli anni dal 1998 al 2001. Nel 1999 vince il III premio al concorso internazionale UFAM di Parigi.Nel 1998 ha frequentato il seminario di Umbria Jazz incontrando per la prima volta Park Stickney, arpista Newyorkese, che utilizza l’arpa in contesti jazz. Dopo questo incontro, ha iniziato lo studio del jazz sia da autodidatta, sia con l’aiuto di arpisti come Carrol Mc Laughing, Harvi Griffin e lo stesso Park Stickney in diverse occasioni, sia dei pianisti Roberto Cipelli e Alessandro Diliberto.Nel 2000 ha frequentato la Civica Jazz di Milano, nel 2003 e 2004 i Seminari di Jazz a Siena e dal 1999 i Seminari di Nuoro Jazz. Frequenta i corsi Superiori Sperimentali di Jazz al Conservatorio di Cagliari sotto la guida del pianista australiano Peter Waters, e continua a prendere lezioni da Park Stickney in numerose occasioni, in Italia come a Londra o Ginevra.Suona inoltre con varie formazioni di tipo jazzistico come il NAT trio, con S. Pala ai sassofoni e Elisabetta Lacorte al basso; il Naima trio, con Francesca Corrias alla voce e flauto e Elisabetta Lacorte al basso. Ha suonato in varie rassegne jazz tra cui Time in Jazz di Berchidda (NU) con il gruppo Ottettodinò e con il pianista P. Waters, Nuoro Jazz con gli Ottettodinò, il Nat trio, in duo con il contrabbassista Bruno Tommaso e in varie formazioni, e Terre di Siena con il pianista Riccardo Zegna e il clarinettista Gabriele Mirabassi. Fa parte inoltre, con l'arpa celtica, del duo RUA, con Angelica turno al violino con un repertorio di musiche irlandesi, bretoni e scozzesi.Affianca l’attività di musicista a quella di docente di Arpa, Propedeutica ed Educazione Musicale. |
