Over just a few years, Williamsburg Jazz Festival (WJF) has become the largest annual cultural event in one of the hippest neighborhoods in New York City – Williamsburg, Brooklyn. WJF expresses Williamsburg’s vibrancy, individualism and creative spirit by featuring world class talent alongside up-and-coming Williamsburg jazz artists and has become an event of international significance. The WJF’s varied program includes some of the most interesting young voices of today’s NYC jazz scene leading their own bands. The weeklong festival will spread through 5 venues in Williamsburg and will feature free as well as ticketed shows. This year’s WJF team includes: trumpeter and festival founder, Jesse Selengut; trombonist, Rick Parker; and newly added co-producer Jurate Kajokaite who has produced and curated projects in music, film and photography in both U.S. and Europe in collaboration with Anthology Film Archives, International Vilnius Jazz Festival, Museum of New Mexico, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Inc. to name but a few. 5th Williamsburg Jazz Festival will be highlighted on WKCR 89.9 FM radio on September 19th, in a three-hour program dedicated to WJF artists. 5TH WILLIAMSBURG JAZZ FESTIVAL PROGRAM: 9/16 @ 8:30pm & 10pm : Jesse Selengut and Noir: with Daniel Kelly, Chris Tarry, Kyle Struve Free Admission @ Surf Bar, 139 N 6th Street 9/17 @ 10pm & 11:30pm: Aviv Cohen's Pocket From the Promised Land Free Admission @ Spike Hill, 184 Bedford Avenue 9/18 @ 8pm & 10pm: Gavin Fallow Quartet with Greg Ruggiero, Pete Rende, Jordan Perlson Free Admission @ My Moon, 184 N 10th Street 9/19 @ 8:30pm & 10pm: Tin Pan Blues Band Free Admission @ Surf Bar, 139 N 6th Street 9/20 @ 8pm & 10pm: James Carney Quartet with with Josh Roseman, Chris Lightcap, Tom Rainey Free Admission @ My Moon, 184 N 10th Street 9/21 @ 9pm – 1am: Mark Guiliana’s “Thing” with Nir Felder, Panagiotis Andreou; Pheeroan akLaffDuo with Mixashawn; Greg Heffernan’s Sauce $10 Ticket @ Rose Live Music, 345 Grand Street 9/22 @ 8pm – 12am: Rick Parker Collective with Xavier Perez, John Chin, Gavin Fallow, Kyle Struve.
