About Me

Garrett James Uhlenbrock (aka Skinny Bones) a veteran of the NY punk scene has been playing in bands since 1978. His first recording pressed on vinyl appeared in 1982. Best known for co-writing "The Job that Ate my Brain", "Anxiety"and "Have a Nice Day" with Marky Ramone for the Ramones albums "Mondo Bizzaro" and "Adios Amigos". The animated MTV show "Daria"used "The Job that Ate my Brain" in their "It Happened One Nut" episode. After Dee Dee left the Ramones he teamed up with Garrett to write 12 songs for a studio project. Garrett also played in Joey Ramones' "Resistance" side project. A video clip from this band can be seen below. After the Ramones breakup Marky and Garrett formed the Intruders, engineered a debut album and toured the world. At their peak Marky and Garrett (Skinny) opened for the Sex Pistols in Brazil (see video below). Garrett left the Intruders due to creative differences, and he disagreed with the decision to fire the groups manager Monte Melnick. Afterwards untrue rumors were spread to cover up these blunders. Garrett went on to record a solo record for Jordan Schurs' Flip records under the name Tin Star. A guest guitar appearance on Mercury Revs' "Deserters' Songs" showed the versatility of his playing. Working with members of "Agit Pop" Garrett engineered and also played some acoustic guitar on Vic Chesnutts' "About to Choke" for Capitol records. Some of Garretts' lesser known bands include STAU, La Vista Hotheads, Acid Bones, Lucky $tiff$, and lately Lazy Suns. He has opened for The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, The Misfits, Patti Smith, Bad Religion, Sick of it All, The Lemonheads, Biohazard, Fishbone, and Cypress Hill. Garrett has played such local venues as Irving Plaza, The Knitting Factory, CBGB’s,and The Bearsville Theatre.

Garrett is now giving GUITAR LESSONS in the NYC and Woodstock,NYareas

Garrett is currently finishing his recordings made of the 12 songs co-written with Dee Dee Ramone in 1989-90. This is by far the best music (and least known) of all his involvement with the Ramones crew. It includes an early version of "Poison Heart". Dee Dee is singing on all tracks with Skinny Bones on guitars and Bass and a guest appearance by Cheetah Chrome. A preview clip of "Street Animal" can be heard on the mp3 player above.
