| Sing Sing fait parler les morts ou parle à leur place, sonde les secrets de famille, ausculte les passions déviantes et les sexualités troubles, le tout chuchotant, croonant, brâmant selon. Sa météo est déréglée, son jeu de guitare est heurté ; il fait trébucher, bégayer la langue française en litanies répétitives, récits troués, syllogismes et métaphysiques bleues. Son dandysme sale, son burlesque grave en font un zigue à part, peut être s’est-il fabriqué de toutes pièces ou bien fichtre, d’où débarque-t-il ?
Après l’onirisme asséché de Ce Crachin Dru (2004) 10 titres folk, rural et cramé, son nouvel EP Ton Pire Cheval évoque entre autres et par effluves spectrales Gainsbourg, le Velvet, et les Ethiopiques, le Delta Blues et la Country patraque. Réalisé par l’excentrique et délicat Bertrand Belin, serti de violons nerveux, pianos enfantins, guitares hérissons et harmonies bizarres, c’est un disque schizophrène, à la fois secret et flamboyant, brut et sophistiqué. Il y est question d’enfance et d’alcool fort, de débacle climatique, d’amour pas net et de fantômes.
C’est une procession funèbre carnavalesque avec hypnose en colimaçon et papier de verre.
Sing Sing loosens the dead’s tongues, unless he becomes their voice ; family secrets he probes, deviant passions and turpid sexualities restlessly he sounds, while whispering, crooning and bawling in turn. In his mouth, French stumbles, stutters circular litanies, gaps-plagued narratives, blue syllogisms and metaphysics. His stained dandysm, his grave burlesque make him an extremely odd type. If he has not built himself up from the top, where on earth does the fellow come from ? After the dried onirism of Ce Crachin dru, a set of 10 fucked-up rural folk songs, his new EP brings forth ghostly fragrances of Serge Gainsbourg, the Velvet Underground, Ethiopian jazz, Delta Blues and sickly country music, among other stuff. Produced by the eccentric and delicate musician Bertand Belin, set with tense violins, childish pianos, spiked guitars and weird harmonies, this is a schizophrenic record, secret and flamboyant, raw and sophisticated, where you’ll hear about childhood and strong booze, climactic collapses, strange love and a procession of ghosts all parading in a carnival funeral, rubbed in spiral hypnosis and sandpaper.
