About Me |
|
Electronic bass is a component that has seen exploitations for over a quarter of a century. When Jungle transisted to Drum&Bass, there was one variant which meddled with the makeup of several a matrix; the modulated wobble. With an eye on post 2000, it had spawned aggro LFO: raging around a Breakcore airfield like nunchucks ready to smash skulls. Mellow LFO: whispering in the midst of relaxed drumwork patterns, too chilled for shedding sweat; a silent film affair. There was neurotic LFO: making prophecies in boarding the mothership of Borg or Braindance, accompanied by agents Reese and Resonance; in a distillate built on two steps. Gurner LFO meanwhile jumped around with airhorns at major raves, doing its nut in the dance; making noise in close proximity to your face. Discography: Played at... Music:Member Since: 1/24/2006Band Website: martsman.de Sounds Like: Tony Colman (Hospital Records; UK) Martsman's music is refreshingly original. It makes me happy to hear something i've not heard before. He gives me the same feeling i got from hearing Morgan Geist the first time. Kid Kameleon (XLR8R, Old-Skool Junglist (;)); USA) Martsman single-handedly has the power to revitalize the DnB genre precisely because he both knows his past and is relentless curious about the future. I've never heard someone meld influences from outside DnB with more skill than he has, and at the same time stay true to the original spirit of jungle, movement through bass and rhythm. If there's justice in this world, his name will reach far beyond Germany and far beyond Drum and Bass. Macc (Outsider Recordings, 13 Music, Breakin; UK) Martsman's music - despite sounding so 'cold' and 'impersonal' - sounds like nobody else but Martsman. Despite feeling so clinical, so clean and apparently characterless, his music is thoroughly unique and expressive. That isn't an easy thing to pull off, but he does it every time. Fanu (Lightless Recordings, Subtitles, Darkestral; FIN) Martsman's one of the few artists with a really distinct style. One of my current favorite artists for sure - the man's always coming up with a fresh take on things! Snappy kick-ass beats and the basses are to die for! EHL (Warm Communications; USA) These days the Drum & Bass world rarely sees true experimental with the exception of a few, so it's a breathe of fresh air when someone like Martsman comes in to turn the genre upside down with his robotic breaks and bouncy bass! Looking very forward to what the future holds for this young man! ASC (Covert Operations, Warm Communications; USA) Martsman has successfully merged techno and glitch elements into the drum & bass mould, while retaining sensibility and keeping that all important groove factor high. Highly original stuff. LXC (Alphacut, Phantomnoise; GER) Martsman - müsste eigentlich Smartsman heissen. Weitermachen. ESB (Detuned Radio/Jungletrain; CAN) Martsman is not trying to sound like the future sound of Drum & Bass, he is shaping the future sound of Drum & Bass. Elements of classic early 90's Warp Recordings married with skewed basslines and German Engineered precision spell Martsman! Record Label: Various Type of Label: Indie |
