| Les 2 énergumènes se rencontrent à Cognac et mettent en place ce
duo défouloir basse-batterie-chant-cris, véritable ovni de la
scène noise. Un premier album atterri sur nos platines en 2003
et fait tout de suite mouche, surprenant tout le monde de par
son extravagance. Un chant à linstinct, un jeu de basse des
plus créatif et une batterie sèche pour un groupe 200% « in
your face » ! À partir de là , tout s enchaîne à grande vitesse: Des concerts à la pelle, un deuxième album en 2004 distribué par Musicast, encore plus de concerts avec des dates hors du territoire français (Angleterre, Allemagne, Belgique, Danemark, Ecosse, Espagne, Hollande, Italie, Luxembourg, Portugal)... Ils passent en suite au troisième album enregistré en décembre 2005 par le « Steve Albini » des Charentes, Michel Toledo. Trés bon accueil et poursuite de ce parcours avec le 4eme album enregistré à La Nef du 12 au 23 janvier 2008 par Julien Maisonneuve et produit par Ted Niceley. Ils recherchent activement un label! "Gâtechien's music is raw, stark and harshly compelling. Bassist/singer Laurent Paradot torturously carves out leads while spewing agonized grunts, groans and syllables that don't sound like words in any language, or occasionally humming along with his own bass parts. Drummer Florian Belaud's complex beats make up in energy for what they sometimes lack in precision; he and Paradot have enough rapport that a third band member would be unnecessary. The songs are disjointed in structure but flow intriguingly from one dark melody to another. If they were more polished or polite, Gâtechien might be just another math-rock band, noteworthy only for their lack of guitar - but the brutal vocal antics alone would keep them from putting anyone to sleep. For an overall impression of Gâtechien, a bad translation of one opinion about the duo is quite apt: "This group is likely to put a good slap to you". " Splendidezine (USA) |
