About Me |
|
Bn Loco is the result of a lifetime under the influence of music. Acid jazz , trip hop, rock, dub and hip hop resonate here, simultaneously reminding us of the sonic landscapes of the electronic downbeat and the finest Latin American grooves. Bn Loco is music that at moments finds its place on the dance floor and then transports you to an open air stage, an excellent melodic complement to a trip to the shore. Bn Loco began around the year 2000 by the hand of Uriel Esquenazi; musician by nature, dj by extension and producer by profession since 1992. His mixes include such diverse styles as acid house, techno, funk, breaks and even drum and basss. His house sets have taken him around the world, dj'ing with the likes of Derrrick May, Mark Farina, Jay J, Deep Dish, and Laurent Garnier. As a producer his credits include remixes for Thievery Corporation, Mexican rock band “Zoe”, Los Tetas from Chile and Acida from Argentina, among others. Bn Loco is an assortment of collaborations resulting in a diverse palette of sound. Andres Sanchez-Maher (Titan, Sanchez & Ruiz, and Sanchez Dub) is the first to collaborate, co-writing tracks that can currently be heard in Bn Loco's repertoire. Subsequently various collaborations begin to take place by musicians like Juan Sebastián Lach (Santa Sabina), León Larregui and Jesus Báez (Zoe), Tea Time (Los Tetas), and Sr. González (Botellita de Jerez), creatively adding to what Bn Loco is known as today. Through this Latin American acoustic influence and electronic experimentation, Uriel Esquenazi gives life to his first release as Bn Loco: Echo en Mexico. The title of the record, "Echo en Mexico", is the first clue to its concept, a play on words on the origin of the same. In Spanish, Made in Mexico is written “Hecho en México”. “Hecho”, meaning made, is replaced with the english word “echo” (as to reverberate or resonate). While listening, the true intention of the album unfolds: a revision of musical influences, and a personal declaration of creative prowess from his own time and place, from his own world. |
